Kevin Anderson was the defending champion, [1] but withdrew before the tournament began because of a right elbow injury. [2]
Reilly Opelka won his first ATP Tour title, defeating Brayden Schnur in the final, 6–1, 6–7(7–9), 7–6(9–7). He saved six match points en route to the title, all in the second-set tiebreak of his semifinal match against John Isner. [3]

It was played on outdoor grass courts and was part of the 250 series of the 2021 ATP Tour. It took place at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, United States from 12 to 18 July 2021.
