Alicja Rosolska and Abigail Spears were the defending champions, [1] but Spears chose not to participate this year. Rosolska played alongside Yang Zhaoxuan, but lost in the first round to Alexa Guarachi and Erin Routliffe.

Desirae Krawczyk and Giuliana Olmos won the title, defeating Ellen Perez and Arina Rodionova in the final, 7–6(7–5), 7–5.

The first round, two quarterfinals and one semifinal were played on indoor hard courts after rain persisted through the first four days (and part of the fifth and sixth days) of the tournament.

This was the first edition of the tournament. Andrea Hlaváčková and Galina Voskoboeva won the title beating polish pair Klaudia Jans and Alicja Rosolska 3–6, 6–0, [10–5] in the final.

Gabriela Dabrowski and Alicja Rosolska were the defending champions, but Dabrowski chose not to participate this year. Rosolska played alongside Anastasia Rodionova, but lost in the first round to Petra Martić and Maria Sanchez.
Anabel Medina Garrigues and Arantxa Parra Santonja won the title, defeating Martić and Sanchez in the final, 4–6, 7–5, [10–7].

Belinda Bencic and Kateřina Siniaková were the defending champions, but Bencic chose not to participate this year. Siniaková played alongside Barbora Krejčíková, but lost in the first round to Margarita Gasparyan and Andrea Hlaváčková.
Gasparyan and Hlaváčková went on to win the title, defeating María Irigoyen and Paula Kania in the final, 6–4, 6–2.

Zhang Kailin and Zheng Saisai were the defending champions, however Zheng chose not to participate. Zhang was scheduled to partner Han Xinyun, but withdrew before the tournament began, after retiring in her first round singles match due to injury.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Šafářová were the defending champions, but neither player could participate this year due to injury.

İpek Soylu and Xu Yifan were the defending champions, but did not participate this year.

Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic won the women's doubles tennis title at the 2018 Australian Open, defeating Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final, 6–4, 6–3. It was the first Grand Slam title for Babos, who became the first Hungarian player to win a Grand Slam event since Andrea Temesvári in the 1986 French Open and the second Grand Slam title for Mladenovic.

Ashleigh Barty and CoCo Vandeweghe defeated Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic in the final, 3–6, 7–6(7–2), 7–6(8–6) to win the women's doubles tennis title at the 2018 US Open.

Abigail Spears and Katarina Srebotnik were the defending champions, but chose not to compete together. Spears played alongside Alicja Rosolska, but lost in the first round to Mihaela Buzărnescu and Alizé Cornet. Chan Hao-ching and Latisha Chan were the defending champions, but Latisha could not participate due to a medical condition. Hao-ching played alongside Yang Zhaoxuan, but they lost in the first round to Nadiia Kichenok and Anastasia Rodionova.

Duan Yingying and Han Xinyun were the defending champions, but did not participate this year.

Samantha Stosur and Zhang Shuai won the women's doubles tennis title at the 2019 Australian Open, defeating defending champions Tímea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic in the final 6–3, 6–4.

Mihaela Buzărnescu and Raluca Olaru were the defending champions, but Buzărnescu chose not to participate this year. Olaru played alongside Darija Jurak, but lost in the semifinals to Daria Gavrilova and Ellen Perez.

Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková were the defending champions, but lost in the first round to Nadiia Kichenok and Abigail Spears.

Lyudmyla and Nadiia Kichenok were the defending champions, but Nadiia Kichenok chose not to participate.

Nadiia Kichenok and Raluca Olaru were the defending champions, but Kichenok chose not to participate. Olaru partnered Sorana Cîrstea but lost to Anastasia Potapova and Vera Zvonareva in the second round.
