Ashleigh Barty defeated Karolína Plíšková in the final, 7–6(7–1), 6–3, to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 Miami Open. It marked Barty's first Miami Open title and her first WTA Premier Mandatory title. Her victory earned her a top 10 debut in the WTA rankings.

Barty saved a match point in the second round against Kristína Kučová en route to the title. The victory earned Barty her first successful title defense in her singles career and made her the sixth woman to accomplish a title defense at the Miami Open.
Veronika Kudermetova defeated Danka Kovinić in the final, 6–4, 6–2, to win the singles tennis title at the 2021 Charleston Open. Kudermetova did not drop a set en route to her first career Women's Tennis Association (WTA) singles title.
Caroline Garcia was the reigning champion from when the event was last held in 2019, but chose not to participate.
Dinara Safina was the defending champion from when the event was last held in 2008, but she retired in 2014. It is the 94th edition of the event on the 2021 WTA Tour, and the first tournament since 2008 after the 2020 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany. This is also the first event of the tournament being held on grass courts, as opposed to clay courts.
Ashleigh Barty defeated Jil Teichmann in the final, 6–3, 6–1, to win the women's singles title at the 2021 Cincinnati Masters and her first title at the tournament. Barty won the title without dropping a set. It was her fifth and last title of the season, her third WTA 1000 title, and her 13th career singles title overall on the WTA Tour.

Paula Badosa defeated Barbora Krejčíková in the final, 6–3, 4–6, 7–6(7–4) to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Sydney Tennis Classic. Krejčíková reached the final after having saved seven match points in her semifinal match against Anett Kontaveit.
Iga Świątek defeated Maria Sakkari in the final, 6–4, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters. She became the first Pole to win the title.
Iga Świątek defeated Naomi Osaka in the final, 6–4, 6–0 to win the women's singles title at the 2022 Miami Open. She became the fourth woman in history, after Steffi Graf, Kim Clijsters, and Victoria Azarenka, to complete the Sunshine Double in singles, having won Indian Wells two weeks earlier. It was Świątek's first Miami Open title, her third consecutive WTA 1000 title, and her fourth WTA 1000-level title overall. Świątek became the first woman in history to win the first three WTA 1000 titles of the year in succession, the first player since Serena Williams in 2013 to win three consecutive WTA 1000 titles, and extended her win streak to 17 matches. She lost no sets and just 26 games en route to the title, the fewest since Martina Hingis dropped 21 games in 2000.
