Juan Martín del Potro defeated the five-time defending champion Roger Federer in the final, 3–6, 7–6(7–5), 4–6, 7–6(7–4), 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2009 US Open. He became the first Argentine man to win the title since Guillermo Vilas in 1977, the first Argentine player to win in any major since Gastón Gaudio in the 2004 French Open. This was del Potro's only major title, although he would reach a second final in 2018. This was also the first US Open final since 1999 to go to 5 sets.
Novak Djokovic defeated Gaël Monfils in the final, 6–2, 5–7, 7–6(7–3) to win the singles tennis title at the 2009 Paris Masters. It was his first Paris Masters title, and the first of an eventual record six titles at the event.
Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–2 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2010 US Open. It was his ninth major title, and he completed the career Golden Slam with the win. Nadal became the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open in the same calendar year, as well as the first man in history to win the Surface Slam. He lost only one set during the tournament, to Djokovic in the final.
Marin Čilić was the defending champion, but was defeated 7–5, 5–7, 3–6 in the final by Andy Murray. Winning in the final meant Murray became the first British player to win three titles at the Queen's Club since Arthur Lowe in the 1920s.

This was the second of two editions of the tournament in the 2021 tennis season. Mackenzie McDonald was the defending champion but lost in the second round to Tomáš Macháč.
Alex de Minaur defeated Lorenzo Sonego in the final, 4–6, 6–4, 7–6(7–5), to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2021 Eastbourne International. It was De Minaur's fifth career ATP Tour singles title and his first on grass. Sonego was contesting in his second grass final to win his third career title.
Carlos Alcaraz defeated the defending champion Alexander Zverev in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Madrid Open. Alcaraz also became the first man to defeat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the same clay court tournament, which he did in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.
