Minsk is the capital and the largest city of Belarus, located on the Svislach and the now subterranean Niamiha rivers. As the capital, Minsk has a special administrative status in Belarus and is the administrative centre of Minsk Region and Minsk District. As of 2024, it has a population of about two million, making Minsk the 11th-most populous city in Europe. Minsk is one of the administrative capitals of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Renald Ivanovich Knysh was a Soviet and Belarusian coach in artistic gymnastics. Considered one of gymnastics' pioneering coaches, he was the coach of Olga Korbut. He was later accused of child rape by Korbut and other gymnasts he coached. He was an Honored Сoach of the BSSR and the USSR and Honorary Сitizen of Grodno.

Raman Bandarenka was an aspiring Belarusian designer, and shop manager. His death is associated with the protests against the 2020 Belarusian presidential election. Raman Bandarenka died after reportedly being beaten by security forces. Police forces said they found him unconscious and called an ambulance.
Boris Kosarev was a Soviet-Belarusian ice hockey player and coach. He played forward for Traktor Chelyabinsk and HC Dinamo Minsk and subsequently coached the latter from 1982 to 1985. He also coached Yunost Minsk and Khimik-SKA Novopolotsk. He was a Master of Sport of the USSR.
