<span class="mw-page-title-main">2007 Guatemalan general election</span>

General elections were held in Guatemala on 9 September to elect a new President and Vice President of the Republic, 158 congressional deputies, and 332 mayors. As no presidential candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 4 November.

The ninth edition of the men's football tournament at the Pan American Games was held in Caracas, Venezuela, from 15 August to 27 August 1983. Ten teams competed in a first round-robin competition, with Brazil defending the title. After the preliminary round there was a semifinal and a final.

Guatemala and Mexico are neighboring nations who established diplomatic relations in 1848. In January 1959 both nations broke diplomatic relations as a result of the Mexico–Guatemala conflict, however, diplomatic relations were re-established 8 months later in September of that same year. Since then diplomatic relations have continued unabated since. Diplomatic relations between both nations are based on close proximity, trade, cultural similarities and a shared history.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rina Lazo</span> Guatemalan-Mexican artist (1923-2019)

Rina Lazo Wasem was a Guatemalan-Mexican painter. She began her career in mural painting with Diego Rivera as his assistant. She worked with him from 1947 until his death in 1957 on projects both in Mexico and Guatemala. Thereafter, she remained an active painter, better known for her mural works than canvases, although the latter have been exhibited in Mexico and other countries. This has made her one of Guatemala's best-known artists. She was a member of the Mexican muralism movement and criticized modern artists as too commercial and not committed to social causes. She believed muralism would revive in Mexico because of its historical value.

Italian Guatemalans are Guatemalan-born citizens who are fully or partially of Italian descent, whose ancestors were Italians who emigrated to Guatemala during the Italian diaspora, or Italian-born people in Guatemala. Italians contributed in the construction of the country as monuments, parks and besides contributing at the National Conservatory.

Juan Francisco Sandoval Alfaro is a Guatemalan attorney and prosecutor who served as Head of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Impunity from September 2015 to July 2021.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Henry Reyes Chigua</span> Guatemalan government minister

Henry Yovani Reyes Chigua is a military officer who served as the Minister of National Defense from December 2021 to January 2024, under the government of Alejandro Giammattei. Minister Reyes has a very comprehensive record of service. After taking on the role of minister of defense, he has significantly strengthened Guatemala's defense capabilities and its ability to respond to natural disasters, for which he has received public recognition. His date of birth is currently unknown for privacy reasons.
