The 2019-20 Omaha Mavericks men's ice hockey season was the 23rd season of play for the program and the 7th in the NCHC conference. The Mavericks represented the University of Nebraska Omaha and were coached by Mike Gabinet, in his 3rd season.
On March 12, 2020, NCHC announced that the tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, before any games were played. [1]

The Omaha Mavericks Men's Ice Hockey team, also called the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks and UNO Mavericks, is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Nebraska Omaha. The Mavericks are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC). They play home games at Baxter Arena, an on-campus facility that opened in 2015. The Mavericks hockey program was started in 1997; the team has qualified for the NCAA tournament on four occasions, in 2006, 2011, 2015, and 2021. During the 2015 tournament, the team made their first appearance in the tournament semifinals, branded by the NCAA as the Frozen Four. The Mavericks competed in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) between 1999 and 2010 before joining the WCHA for the 2010–11 season. The Mavericks joined the National Collegiate Hockey Conference starting in the 2013–14 season along with fellow charter members Colorado College, the University of Denver, Miami University, the University of Minnesota Duluth, and the University of North Dakota, plus invited founding members St. Cloud State University and Western Michigan University.
The 2014 NCHC Tournament was the first tournament in league history. It was played between March 13 and March 22, 2014. Quarterfinal games were played at home team campus sites, while the final four games were played at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. By winning the tournament, Denver received the NCHC's automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.
The 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey season began on October 5, 2019 and was intended to conclude with the Frozen Four in April 2020. This would have been the 73rd season in which an NCAA ice hockey championship was held, and was US college hockey's 126th year overall. However, the postseason tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2019-20 Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs men's ice hockey season was the 76th season of play for the program and the 7th in the NCHC conference. The Bulldogs represented the University of Minnesota Duluth and were coached by Scott Sandelin, in his 20th season.
The 2019-20 Western Michigan Broncos men's ice hockey season was the 46th season of play for the program and the 7th in the NCHC conference. The Broncos represented Western Michigan University and were coached by Andy Murray, in his 9th season.
The 2019-20 Miami RedHawks men's ice hockey season was the 42nd season of play for the program and the 7th in the NCHC conference. The RedHawks represented Miami University and were coached by Chris Bergeron, in his 1st season.
The 2019-20 Colorado College Tigers men's ice hockey season was the 80th season of play for the program and the 7th in the NCHC conference. The Tigers represented Colorado College and were coached by Mike Haviland, in his 6th season.
The 2019-20 Denver Pioneers men's ice hockey season was the 71st season of play for the program and the 7th in the NCHC conference. The Pioneers represented the University of Denver and were coached by David Carle, in his second season.
The 2019-20 St. Cloud State Huskies men's ice hockey season was the 85th season of play for the program, the 23rd at the Division I level and the 7th in the NCHC conference. The Huskies represented St. Cloud State University and were coached by Brett Larson, in his 2nd season.
The 2020-21 North Dakota Fighting Hawks men's ice hockey season was the 79th season of play for the program and the 8th in the NCHC conference. The Fighting Hawks represented the University of North Dakota and were coached by Brad Berry, in his 6th season. The first ten regular season games were played in a "pod" in Omaha, Nebraska at Baxter Arena during the COVID-19 pandemic. North Dakota won its 4th Penrose Cup as regular season champions of the NCHC. UND won the NCHC tournament for the first time in program history.

The Mavericks are coached by Mike Gabinet, in his fifth season, and play their home games at Baxter Arena.

The start of the season was delayed until December 1, 2020 and concluded on April 10, 2021. St. Cloud State made its first championship appearance, finishing as the national runner-up.
