The 2020 Italy men's OQT basketball team will represent Italy at the 2020 FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia in June 2021. They were qualified for the Qualification tournament by taking the 10th place at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The team has been coached by Meo Sacchetti.

Overview

The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from 23 to 28 June 2020, but it was shifted to 29 June to 4 July due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Italy won the competition after an historic victory in the finals against the favourite Serbian team. This way, the Italian team qualified to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

The Senegal roster did not participate in the Qualifying Tournament. On June 28, they informed FIBA about COVID-19 related disruptions to their preparations in Germany. Afterwards, their scheduled games did not take place and Senegal lost by forfeit 0–20. [11]

Italy mens national basketball team National sports team

The Italy national basketball team represents Italy in men's international basketball tournaments. They are administered by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP).

The Italy national rugby sevens team has occasionally competed in the IRB Sevens World Series since the series' was introduced in 1999, although they do not participate in every leg. Their first ever points in the World Series came in 2003, when they scored four points in the Cardiff leg of the series. Italy also competes in the Rugby Europe Sevens Grand Prix Series each summer.

The men's basketball tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, began on 6 August and ended on 21 August. The gold medal game in this discipline was the final competitive event before the Closing Ceremony. The United States won their fifteenth gold medal, after defeating Serbia, 96–66, in the gold medal match, which was the largest margin of victory in a gold medal game, since the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Italy competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Italy has competed in every Summer Olympics, except the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis.

Italy competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2019 Italy FIBA Basketball World Cup team represents Italy at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China. Italy qualified for the World Cup by taking the 2nd place in the European Second Round Group J. The team has been coached by Romeo Sacchetti.

The Italy team for EuroBasket 2022 qualification will represent Italy at the EuroBasket 2022 qualification. Italy has already qualified for the EuroBasket 2022 being one of the host countries. Nevertheless Italians won four matches and lost two, ending the competition in the first position.

The 2020 Serbia men's OQT basketball team will represent Serbia at the 2020 FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia in June and July 2021. The team coached by Igor Kokoškov and led by team captain Miloš Teodosić failed to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The 2020 FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments includes teams whose rosters consists of 12 players; a team may opt to have one naturalized player as per FIBA eligibility rules in their roster.
