The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in most countries/territories in Asia. It has 47 members. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC who managed women's association football in Asia. The group was independently founded in April 1968 in a meeting involving Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. In 1986 ALFC merged with AFC.

They are one of the most successful Asian national teams, having won twice the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup. At the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, however, they have never got past the group stage. The UAE team has participated in every edition of the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, which was founded after the 2009 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was hosted in the United Arab Emirates and which is played only in the UAE,They will host it once again as for the second time in 2023.

Kuwait was confirmed by the AFC as tournament hosts on 18 March 2020. The tournament was originally scheduled between 2–12 July 2020, but had been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kuwait had expressed an interest to host the tournament in September 2021.

The 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup is the 17th edition of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, the biennial international futsal championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's national teams of Asia. A total of 16 teams compete in the tournament. The top four teams will qualify for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan besides Uzbekistan who automatically qualified as host. If Uzbekistan reach the semi-finals, a play-off round will be held to determine the last Asian representatives at the Futsal World Cup.
