The 2021 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup was originally to be the 10th edition (3rd official edition) of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup (previously the AFC Beach Soccer Championship before rebranding from 2021), [1] the premier beach soccer tournament contested by Asian men's national teams, organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The tournament would originally take place in Thailand. [2] [3] It was originally scheduled to be played between 18–28 March 2021. On 10 November 2020, the AFC approved the proposal to move the tournament to between 28 April to 8 May 2021 to allow teams more time to prepare for the tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [4] However, the tournament was eventually cancelled, with the official announcement made by the AFC on 25 January 2021, and Thailand would instead host the next edition in 2023. [5] [6]

A total of 16 teams were originally expected to participate. [7] Japan were the defending champions.

Qualified teams for FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

The tournament would also have acted as the qualification tournament for Asian teams to the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Russia; the top three teams would have qualified.[ citation needed ]

On 21 April 2021, the AFC announced that they agreed to utilize a point system which ranks the performances of the continent’s top eight teams in the last three editions of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup (2015, 2017, 2019). Based on the ranking of the point system, Japan, Oman and United Arab Emirates were nominated as the AFC representatives at the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. [8]

The United Arab Emirates national beach soccer team represents United Arab Emirates in beach soccer. They are one of the most successful Asian national teams, having won twice the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup. At the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, however, they have never got past the group stage. The UAE team has participated in every edition of the Beach Soccer Intercontinental Cup, which was founded after the 2009 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was hosted in the United Arab Emirates and which is played only in the UAE,They will host it once again as for the second time in 2023.

The Vietnam national futsal team represents Vietnam in international futsal and is governed by Vietnam Football Federation. They played twice World Cup in 2016 and 2021 and reached to the knockout-stage in both.

The Oman national beach soccer team represents Oman in international beach soccer competitions and is controlled by the Oman Football Association, the governing body for football in Oman.

The Lebanon national beach soccer team represents Lebanon in international beach soccer competitions and is controlled by the Lebanon Football Association, the governing body for football in Lebanon.

The AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup, previously the AFC Women's Futsal Championship, is the premier national women's futsal competition of the Asian Football Confederation nations. Iran have won both editions held to date.

The 2020 AFC Futsal Championship would have been the 16th edition of the AFC Futsal Championship, the biennial international futsal championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's national teams of Asia. A total of 16 teams would have taken part in the tournament.

The 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup was to be the 23rd edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. It was scheduled to be hosted by Indonesia between 21 May and 12 June 2021, which would have been the first FIFA tournament hosted by the country. The 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was the 11th edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. Overall, this was the 21st edition of a world cup in beach soccer since the establishment of the Beach Soccer World Championships which ran from 1995 to 2004 but was not governed by FIFA. This was the sixth tournament to take place biennially; the World Cup took place annually until 2009. The tournament took place in Moscow, capital of Russia, between 19 and 29 August 2021.

The Asian qualifying competition for 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup was an extraordinary men's futsal competition that determines two of the five national teams which are members of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) playing in the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania, which was originally scheduled to be held in 2020 but postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2024 AFC Futsal Asian Cup is the 17th edition of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, the biennial international futsal championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's national teams of Asia. A total of 16 teams compete in the tournament. The top four teams will qualify for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan besides Uzbekistan who automatically qualified as host. If Uzbekistan reach the semi-finals, a play-off round will be held to determine the last Asian representatives at the Futsal World Cup.
