The players draft for the 2021 Kashmir Premier League took place on 3 July 2021 at the Tulip Banquet Hall in Islamabad. [1] A total of 413 players signed up for the KPL. The players were divided into 7 categories: Icon, Overseas, Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. [2] The emerging category was further divided into Overseas Kashmiris, Local Kashmiris and Non-Kashmiris. [3] Each team chose 1 Icon player, 1 Overseas player, 1 Platinum player, 2 Diamond players, 2 Gold players, 3 Silver players and 5 Emerging players. Many people attended the draft including Chairman of the Kashmir Committee Shehryar Khan Afridi, Senator Faisal Javed, President of the KPL: Arif Malik and CEO of the KPL: Chaudhary Shahzad Akhtar. Herschelle Gibbs was the first player to be picked in the draft. [5] Shan Masood was the first non-foreign player to be picked in the draft. The icon players had already been signed prior to the draft.

The player draft for the inaugural season of the Pakistan Super League was held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 21–22 December 2015. A total of 308 players and 30 coaches, including Pakistani and Foreigners were divided into 5 different categories Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. Each franchise had a salary-spending cap of $1.2 million, including the signing of players, coaches and support staff. There were five icon players and each team was allowed to pick one icon and six foreigners in a 20-man squad.
The Player Draft for the 2nd season of the Pakistan Super League was held at Dubai on 19 October 2016. A total of 414 players, including Pakistani and foreign cricketers, were divided into five different categories: Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging. The salary-spending cap for a franchise was US$1.2 million, including the signing of players, coaches and support staff. Each team was allowed to pick eight foreign and 12 domestic players in a squad of up to 20.
The 2018 Pakistan Super League player draft was the player draft for third season of the Pakistan Super League, held on 12 November 2017 in Lahore. Each franchise was allowed to pick 16 players from total 501 players; including Pakistani and foreign cricketers who took part in the draft. They divided into five different categories; Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging and Supplementary. This was Multan Sultans' inaugural season, they were allowed to pick 9 players prior to the draft.
