The 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards were an awards presentation held on May 16 and 17, 2021 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. [1] It was the 29th edition of the MTV Movie & TV Awards, and the fourth to jointly honor movies and television.

Contents

The presentation was held as a two-night event; comedian and actress Leslie Jones hosted the first night, which was dedicated to awards for film and scripted television. [2] Comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the second night, MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted, which were devoted to awards for reality television. [3]

The full list of nominees was announced on April 19, 2021. [4] Best Music Documentary nominees were announced on May 10, 2021, followed by Best Musical Moment on May 11, 2021. [5] All winners are listed first, in bold.

Ceremony information

MTV did not announce or hold a 2020 edition of the ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [9] MTV announced on March 11, 2021, that the ceremony would be scheduled for May 16 and 17, 2021, with the first night to focus on films and scripted television, and the second (titled MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted) to focus on unscripted and reality television. [10]

Ridiculousness is an American comedy clip show that began airing on August 29, 2011, on MTV. It is hosted by Rob Dyrdek and co-hosted by Sterling "Steelo" Brim, and formerly Chanel West Coast. Ridiculousness strictly showcases various viral videos from the Internet, usually involving failed do-it-yourself attempts at stunts, to which Dyrdek and his panelists add mockery and reaction. The producers of the series and MTV refuse any submitted videos for the show for the safety of their viewers, instead licensing already-existing content.

Selena + Chef is an American television cooking show hosted by Selena Gomez that premiered on HBO Max on August 13, 2020. The first season consists of 10 episodes. In August 2020, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered on November 19, 2020, and continues into early 2021. In April 2021, the series was renewed for a third season which was released on October 28, 2021. In November 2021, the series was renewed for a fourth season which premiered on August 18, 2022. On October 2, 2023, it was announced that Gomez would return for a series of holiday specials entitled Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays that premiered on November 30, 2023 on Food Network.
