Below Deck Mediterranean is an American reality television series that premiered on Bravo on May 3, 2016. Developed as the first spin-off of Below Deck , it has aired seven seasons. [1] [2] The eighth season premiered on September 25, 2023. [3]
The series chronicles the lives of the crew members who work and reside aboard a 150-foot-plus superyacht during a charter season in Greece (Season 1), [2] Croatia (Seasons 2 and 6), Italy (Season 3 and 8), France (Season 4), Spain (Season 5) and Malta (Season 7) [4] which consists of filming for around six weeks with the cast temporarily replacing the conventional crew. [5] [6] All seasons are currently available on Peacock streaming service.

Below Deck Mediterranean airs on the Bravo cable network in the United States; the first episode premiered on Tuesday at 9/8pm ET/PT on May 3, 2016. A half-hour preview special of the series aired on March 23, 2016. [30] In 2021, the British Channel 4 acquired the series for its E4 'youth' TV channel, with the first episode due to begin on February 22, 2021 at 7:30pm. [39]

Chief Stewardess Hannah Ferrier, who had appeared in the first five seasons, was fired during Season 5 after Malia photographed a box of Valium and an empty THC pen in Ferrier's cabin. Hannah was immediately fired by Captain Sandy and removed from the boat. It later transpired the medication was prescribed to help her deal with anxiety. Ferrier criticized the show for the repeated references to her medication as "drugs" and for using her illness as a plotline. [41]
After 3 episodes of Season 5 had been aired on Bravo, Deckhand Peter Hunziker was fired by the production company for a racist and misogynist posting on social media. His appearances were minimized in later episodes. [37]
Stavros S Niarchos is a British brig-rigged tall ship, now renamed "Sunset". She was previously owned and operated by the Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT). She was primarily designed to provide young people with the opportunity to undertake voyages as character-building exercises, rather than pure sail-training. She was also used for adult voyages and holidays, which helped subsidise the operation of the ship.

Aesha Scott, the series' chief stew, previously appeared on Below Deck Mediterranean. Captain Jason Chambers made Australian headlines in 2019 after an accident where he crashed a superyacht into a wharf in Queensland. In May 2023, it was announced that the series would be permanently moving from Peacock to Bravo. The second season of the series began airing on July 17, 2023.

The show is the 4th spin-off of the Below Deck franchise, after Below Deck Mediterranean, Below Deck Sailing Yacht and Below Deck Down Under. The show takes place on and off the luxury yacht "Mercury" which cruises among the Fjords of Norway. Building on the concept of the previous shows, this version of the show incorporates off-ship activities such as parasailing, bicycling and rock climbing engaged in by the yacht guests and crew. The show was filmed between July 25, 2021 and September 14, 2021, and was based out of the town of Ålesund, Norway.
The Lagoon 65, marketed as the Lagoon Sixty 5, is a French sailboat that was designed by Van Peteghem/Lauriot-Prevost with the exterior design by Patrick le Quément and interior design by Nauta Design. It was intended as a cruiser for private ownership and also for the yacht charter role, and first built in 2019.
