The 2021 season for Team DSM was the team's ninth season as a UCI WorldTeam and its 17th overall. After four years with Dutch travel agency and tour operator Sunweb as the team's title sponsor, Dutch health and materials company DSM took over as the title sponsor. [1] [2]

  1. Hirschi's contract, which was originally set to expire at the end of the 2021 season, was terminated with immediate effect on 5 January. He subsequently joined UAE Team Emirates. [6] [7]
  2. After a contractual dispute between Van Wilder and Team DSM, his contracted was terminated and he joined Deceuninck–Quick-Step with immediate effect on 18 November. [8]

After just one year, British car manufacturer McLaren withdrew from its co-title sponsorship, citing a desire to "focus on motorsport after the uncertainty caused ... by the coronavirus pandemic." The team then took on the name of Victorious Stables, a horse racing stable owned by team owner Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, with the adjective serving as "a constant reminder of [the team's] goal to achieve success at the highest level both on and off the bike."

The 2021 season for Delko was the 47th season in the team's existence, the sixth as a UCI ProTeam, and the first under the current name. Japanese construction company Nippo Corporation, which had been a co-title sponsor last season, left the team to sponsor UCI WorldTeam EF Education–Nippo instead.

The 2021 Vuelta a España was a three-week cycling race which took place in Spain between 14 August and 5 September 2021. It was the 76th edition of the Vuelta a España and the third and final grand tour of the 2021 men's road cycling season. The race departed from Burgos and finished in Santiago de Compostela.
