The 2022 Championships of the Small States of Europe was the fourth edition of the biennial competition in outdoor track and field organised by the Athletic Association of Small States of Europe (AASE). It was held on 11 June 2022 at the Matthew Micallef St. John Athletics Stadium in Marsa, Malta. [1] A total of 22 events were contested.

Vatican City was also present at these championships, with two competitors Emiliano Morbidelli and Sara Carnicelli in a "non-scoring" manner. Sara Carnicelli was the third fastest in the women's 5000 m. She was awarded with an honorary bronze medal. [2]

The Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) is a biennial multi-sport event, launched by the Republic of San Marino, organized by and featuring the National Olympic Committees of nine European small states since 1985. The Games are held at the end of May or beginning of June and feature competition in nine Summer Olympic sports.

The 2003 Games of the Small States of Europe, or the Xth Games of the Small States of Europe, were held in Valletta, Malta from June 2 to June 7, 2003. Valletta previously hosted the games in 1993. Malta was not due to host the Games again until 2009, but a strong bid helped them to gain the games six years early. Administration of the games was done jointly by the Maltese Ministry of Education and the Malta Olympic Committee. The games were declared open by President Guido de Marco on June 2.

Jovan Stojoski is a Serbian sprinter who represents Macedonia since 2019. Stojoski participated in the 2020 Olympic Games Tokyo.

The 2021 World Para Athletics European Championships was a track and field competition for athletes with a disability open to International Paralympic Committee (IPC) affiliated countries within Europe and a refugee team with one athlete. This was the 7th edition of the event. This was also the first time that the event was held in Poland. Around 670 athletes competed at the event.

Athletics is one of the sports at the biennial Games of the Small States of Europe. Athletics competitions have been held at every edition of the games since 1985 and is one of the eight core sports of the games.

Androniki Lada is a Cypriot discus thrower who has won seven consecutive national championships. Lada finished second in the discus event at the 2017 Games of the Small States of Europe, first in the discus event at the 2022 Balkan Athletics Championships and third at the 2022 Championships of the Small States of Europe. She came eighth at the discus event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

The 2016 Championships of the Small States of Europe was the first edition of the biennial competition in outdoor track and field organised by the Athletic Association of Small States of Europe (AASE). The competition was launched to take place in the years between the Games of the Small States of Europe. It was held on 11 June 2016 at the Matthew Micallef St. John Athletics Stadium in Marsa, Malta. A total of 22 events were contested by around 300 athletes from 18 nations.
