The 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens European Qualifier was the final qualification event for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens. Four teams qualified from the 12 teams entered. The event was held at the Stadionul Arcul de Triumf in Bucharest. [1] [2] [3] Ireland were strong favourites entering the tournament and qualified for 2022 event, by defeating Georgia 17–12 in their quarter-final matchup. [4]

Winners of the four matches advance to 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens.
The Romania national rugby union team represents Romania in men's international rugby union competitions. Nicknamed Stejarii, the team is long considered one of the stronger European teams outside the Six Nations. They have participated in all but one Rugby World Cup and currently compete in the first division of the European Nations Cup, which they won in 2017. Rugby union in Romania is administered by the Romanian Rugby Federation.
The Russia national rugby union team, nicknamed Medvedi, represented Russia in men's international rugby union international competitions. The team is administered by the Rugby Union of Russia (RUR). The RUR is considered the official successor union of the Soviet Union by World Rugby and the combined CIS team which played in the early 1990s. Since 1992, the team has played as Russia. Its first test match as Russia was against the Barbarians in Moscow in June 1992 and the country's first test against an official Test nation was against Belgium later that same year.
2011 Rugby World Cup qualifying began at the 2007 tournament in France, where twelve teams earned a place in the finals of the tournament, this automatically qualified them for the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

The first leg was played in Lisbon, Portugal, with the second leg in Krakow, Poland. Ten teams competed. There was a separate 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens European Qualifier event held in Bucharest in July. Spain were the defending champions, having won the 2021 tournament. The men's tournament for the 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens was held in Cape Town, South Africa from 9 to 11 September at the Cape Town Stadium.
Rugby sevens at the 2023 European Games was held in Kraków, Poland. The gold medalists in the men’s and women’s tournaments qualified for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
