The 2022 World and European Wheelchair Handball Championship was a wheelchair handball tournament held in Leiria, Portugal from 18 to 20 November 2022.
The competition featured nine teams, i.e., the host, two from Asia and six from Europe. The competition was played with mixed teams, i.e., each team must have at least three female players, while at least one female player per team must be on the court at any time. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Because Pakistan entered the competition only with nine players (two women) instead of twelve players (three women) they were disqualified by the tournament management. They are allowed to play their games, but all games were be counted as 0–10 lose and 0–2 points for the opponent. [5]

The 2008 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was held in Norway from 17 to 27 January, in the cities of Bergen, Drammen, Lillehammer, Stavanger and Trondheim. Denmark won the tournament with Croatia second and France third.
The 2012 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Serbia from 4 to 16 December. Originally the tournament was scheduled to be held in the Netherlands but on 4 June 2012 the Dutch Handball Federation withdrew from the organization. Subsequently, the European Handball Federation (EHF) launched a new bidding process and eventually selected Serbia as the new host on 18 June 2012.
The 2020 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the 14th edition of the tournament and the first to feature 24 national teams. It was co-hosted for the first time in three countries – Austria, Norway and Sweden – from 9 to 26 January 2020.

They joined the other four teams already qualified: Hungary and Slovakia, as final tournament co-hosts, and Spain and Croatia, who finished in the top two positions in the previous championship. Those four played in the EHF Euro Cup.

This was the last European Wheelchair Handball Nations' Tournament because next year will be held an official European championship. Croatia defeated Portugal to the first title.
