The year 2022 is reckoned as year 2565 in the Buddhist Era. The year was marked by anticipated APEC meetings, the first Bangkok governor election after the 2014 coup, and raising inflation following COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

Chai-Anan Samudavanija was a Thai political scientist. He served as a director of Vajiravudh College, president of the Royal Institute, judge of the Constitutional Court, and professor of political science at Chulalongkorn University. He was one of the key drafters of the 1997 constitution of Thailand. During the 2005–2006 political crisis, he was a vocal critic of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. He was associated with Sondhi Limthongkul: he chaired IEC and was head of several of Sondhi's foundations. Chai-Anan supported the 2006 military coup that overthrew the Thaksin government.

The Government of Thailand, or formally the Royal Thai Government, is the unitary government of the Kingdom of Thailand. The country emerged as a modern nation state after the foundation of the Chakri Dynasty and the city of Bangkok in 1782. The Revolution of 1932 brought an end to absolute monarchy and replaced it with a constitutional monarchy.

Prayut Chan-o-cha is a Thai former politician and military officer. He became the 29th prime minister of Thailand after he seized power in the 2014 military coup and served until 2023. He was concurrently the minister of defence in his own government from 2019 to 2023. Prayut served as commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army from 2010 to 2014 and led the 2014 Thai coup d'état which installed the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), the military junta which governed Thailand between 22 May 2014 and 10 July 2019.

General elections were held in Thailand on 24 March 2019. They were the first elections since the 2014 Thai coup d'état that installed coup leader General Prayut Chan-o-cha as prime minister, and the first held in accordance with the 2017 constitution, which was drafted under the ruling military junta. The elections selected the five hundred members of the new House of Representatives, the previous House having been dissolved by the coup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bhichai Rattakul</span> Thai politician (1924–2022)

Bhichai Rattakul was a Thai politician who served as the Deputy Prime Minister from 1983 to 1990 and 1997 to 2000, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and President of the National Assembly. He was also leader of the Democrat Party between 1982 and 1990, and the World President of Rotary International from 2002 to 2004.

Palang Pracharath Party is a Thai civil-military political party with ties to the National Council for Peace and Order, the military junta that ruled the country after the 2014 coup. It was established in 2018 by Chuan Chuchan and Suchart Jantarachotikul as a "party of power" to support Prayut Chan-o-cha in 2019 Thai general election.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Thai general election</span>

General elections were held in Thailand on 14 May 2023 to elect 500 members of the House of Representatives. The Move Forward Party, led by Pita Limjaroenrat, surprised analysts by winning the most seats, followed by fellow opposition party Pheu Thai who had won the most seats in the 2011 and 2019 elections. Turnout was a record 75.22%.

The House of Representatives of Thailand of 2019 consists of 500 members elected in the 24 March 2019 general election, who, together with 250 members of the appointed Senate, form the National Assembly of Thailand. It is the first parliament convened in accordance with the 2017 constitution, which followed the 2014 military coup. Its lower house was the first since the coup to be elected, while the Senate was appointed by the National Council for Peace and Order, the military junta that came to power in the coup.

Jennis Oprasert is a former member of the Thai idol group, BNK48, an international sister group of the Japanese idol girl group AKB48. She is one of the first generation members of the group. Jennis also served as the vice-captain of Team BIII, with Punsikorn Tiyakorn (Pun) as the captain.

The year 2020 is the 239th year of the Rattanakosin Kingdom of Thailand. It is the fifth year in the reign of King Vajiralongkorn, and is reckoned as year 2563 in the Buddhist Era. The year was most significantly marked the by the global COVID-19 pandemic, which reached Thailand in January, as well as widespread youth-led protest movements against the government and for reform of the monarchy.

Chalermchai Sri-on is a Thai politician who is the current leader of the Democrat Party. He previously served as Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives in the second cabinet of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

Akom Preedakul, known by stage name Kom Chuanchuen, was a Thai comedian and actor best known from comedic, supporting roles in Thai movies and television.

The eleventh election for the governorship of Bangkok was held on 22 May 2022. It took place 9 years after the latest election in 2013, long delayed due to the 2014 coup d'état.

Chamnien Moonkasorn, known professionally as Dokmaipa Por.Pongsawang, was a Thailand Muay Thai fighter. He was a two-division Lumpinee Stadium champion who was famous in the 1980s and 1990s. Nicknamed "The Powerful Southpaw", he was especially known for his devastating left kicks.

The 2023 Rayong 3rd district by-election was a by-election held on 10 September to elect the next member of the Thai House of Representatives in Rayong's 3rd district. The by-election was held as a result of the resignation of Move Forward MP, Nakornchai Khunnarong, on 3 August after it was discovered Nakornchai had a criminal record.
