The 2006 World Weightlifting Championships were held at the Handball Pavilion and Weightlifting Pavilion Dr. José Joaquín Puello in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The event took place from September 30 to October 7, 2006.
Tunisia competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. Since the nation's official debut in 1960, Tunisian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, except the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow because of the nation's partial support for the US-led boycott.

The 2009 Arab Youth Athletics Championships was the third edition of the international athletics competition for under-18 athletes from Arab countries. Organised by the Arab Athletic Federation, it took place in the Syrian city of Aleppo from 22 to 24 July. A total of thirty-eight events were contested, of which 20 by male and 18 by female athletes. The difference was accounted for by the lack of steeplechase and pole vault events for girls.
The 2015 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Houston, United States. The event took place from November 19 to 28, 2015. This event was, together with the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships, the first stage of the Qualification Process for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The 2017 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Anaheim, California, United States from 28 November to 5 December 2017.
Egypt participated with a total of 68 athletes at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Olympians have to be aged 14–18 in order to participate.
The 2018 World Weightlifting Championships were held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from 1 to 10 November 2018. This was the first World Championship after the IWF changed their weight classes and nullified all world records. As a result, this World Championship saw a total of 31 senior men's world records and 41 senior women's world records set.
The 2019 World Weightlifting Championships was held in Pattaya, Thailand from 18 to 27 September 2019.

The 2021 Junior World Weightlifting Championships were held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 23 to 31 May 2021.
The 2022 European Weightlifting Championships was held in Tirana, Albania, from 28 May to 5 June 2022. The event was initially scheduled to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, but this changed after a leadership dispute.
The 2022 World Weightlifting Championships was a weightlifting competition held in Bogotá, Colombia in December 2022. It was scheduled to be held in Chongqing, China but this changed in March 2022 as a result of COVID-19 measures in China. The new location was announced in April 2022. It was the first time Colombia hosted the World Weightlifting Championships.
The 2022 Youth World Weightlifting Championships were a weightlifting competition held from 11 to 18 June in León, Mexico.
The 2022 African Weightlifting Championships were held in Cairo, Egypt from 28 to 31 October 2022. It were the 32nd men's and 21st women's championship and 1st African Clubs Weightlifting Championships.
