This is a list of qualifying teams in the 2023 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament. A total of 68 teams are entered into the tournament. [1] Thirty-two of the teams qualified via automatic bids, earned by winning their conference tournaments, while the remaining 36 teams were via "at-large" bids, which are extended by the NCAA Selection Committee. Teams are seeded from 1 to 16 within each of the four regionals.

A total of 32 automatic bids to the tournament were granted to the below listed conferences, which were given to the team that won the conference's championship tournament. The NCAA Bowling Championship is a sanctioned women's championship in college athletics. Unlike many NCAA sports, only one National Collegiate championship is held each season with teams from Division I, Division II, and Division III competing together. Seventeen teams, nine of them automatic qualifiers and the other eight being at-large selections, are chosen by the NCAA Bowling Committee to compete in the championship. The championship was first held in April 2004.

The selection process for college basketball's NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments determine which teams will enter the tournaments and their seedings and matchups in the knockout bracket. Currently, thirty-two (32) teams gain automatic entry through winning their conference's championship. The remaining teams rely on the selection committee to award them an at-large bid in the tournament. The selection process primarily takes place on Selection Sunday and the days leading up to it. Selection Sunday is also when the men's brackets and seeds are released to the public. Beginning in 2022, the women's championship brackets and seeds are also announced on Sunday. Prior to the expansion of the bracket from 64 to 68 teams the women's championship brackets and seeds were announced one day later, on Selection Monday.

The Southeastern Conference baseball tournament is the conference tournament in baseball for the Southeastern Conference (SEC). It is a partially double-elimination tournament and seeding is based on regular season conference records. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. The SEC Tournament champion is separate from the conference champion. The conference championship is determined solely by regular season record.

The 2008 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) was a single-elimination tournament of 48 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not participate in the 2008 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament. The 40th annual tournament was played from March 19, 2008, to April 5, 2008, entirely on campus sites. The highest ranked team in each conference that did not receive a bid to the NCAA Tournament received an automatic bid to this tournament. The remaining slots were filled by the WNIT Selection Committee. Marquette defeated Michigan State, 81–66, to win the tournament.

The 2024 Big 12 Women's Basketball Tournament is a postseason women's basketball tournament for the Big 12 Conference. It was played from March 7-12, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri at T-Mobile Center. The winner will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Due to a major conference realignment that significantly impacted the Big 12, this will be the first and only tournament with 14 teams participating. At the beginning of the 2023–24 season, BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and UCF joined the conference. This will be the final appearance in the tournament for Texas and Oklahoma before they join the Southeastern Conference for the 2024–25 season. The conference will increase to have 16 schools in that season, as Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah will join the Big 12, respectively from the Pac-12 Conference. The tournament is sponsored by Phillips 66.
