The 2023 PBA Tour season, the 64th season of play for the U.S. Professional Bowlers Association's ten-pin bowling tour, began on January 29 with the pre-tournament qualifier (PTQ) of the U.S. Open. [1]

On August 17, 2023, the PBA and Fox announced they have agreed to a two-year media rights extension for tournament coverage on Fox and FS1 channels, as well as Fox digital channels, through the 2025 season. Initial commitment is for eight two-hour program windows on Fox and 22 two-hour windows on FS1. Bill Wanger, EVP-Head of Programming and Scheduling at Fox Sports, stated during the announcement that viewership for the 2023 season was up almost 15% from 2022. [2]

Season overview

On November 1, 2022, the PBA released the 2023 schedule, including Fox and FS1 broadcasts. For the first time in PBA history, the final rounds of all five major events were broadcast live on over-the-air network television (Fox network). The PBA also announced that match play or extended stepladder rounds for multiple tournaments would be broadcast on FS1, another PBA first. In addition, the 2023 season schedule includes nine standard singles title events and two doubles title events that will have final rounds broadcast on FS1 or live-streamed on BowlTV (the PBA's YouTube channel). [1] The one exception is the PBA Tour Finals, which continues to be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

Following the U.S. Open finals broadcast on February 5, other major finals broadcasts included the Tournament of Champions on March 19, the USBC Masters on April 2, the PBA World Championship on April 23 (part of the World Series of Bowling in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin that also includes three standard title events), and the PBA Players Championship on May 14. Fox also broadcast the PBA Super Slam finals on May 21, This special event featured all major tournament winners from the 2023 season. [1] The five majors and the Super Slam each paid out a $100,000 top prize.

In February-March, there were five "Classic Series" tour stops each awarding a standard PBA singles title. The top eight points earners from these five events were invited to compete in a special, non-title Skill Ball Challenge event on July 22–23. In that event, all eight players were required to use an identical low-technology Skill 3.02 bowling ball. [3]

The PBA League Elias Cup team competition, previously a summer event, was moved to the fall, with the finals broadcasts held on September 27 on FS1.

This is a recap of the 2012–13 season for the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour. It was the tour's 54th season, and the fourth straight season in which all of the North American fall events are condensed into the PBA World Series of Bowling (WSOB). The season consisted of 34 individual title events, plus a "PBA League" team title event. The PBA billed 2012–13 as a "super season", running longer than one full year, in preparation for a return to a calendar-year season format for 2014.

Kyle Troup is an American professional ten-pin bowler from Taylorsville, North Carolina, now residing in Mt. Washington, Kentucky. He uses the two-handed shovel-style delivery with a dominant right hand. Troup says he needed two hands when learning to throw the ball as a young child, calling himself self-taught in that regard.

Eddie Dean Tackett Jr. is an American professional ten-pin bowler. A member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since 2012, Tackett has won 22 PBA Tour titles, including four major championships, and is one of nine professional bowlers that have completed the PBA Triple Crown. He was named PBA Player of the Year for the 2016 and 2023 seasons, and was runner-up for the award in 2017 and 2018. Tackett is right-handed and uses a cranker-style delivery. He has been called a "unicorn" in the sport, because of his ability to use a one-handed, thumb-in delivery to achieve RPM rates comparable to most two-handed bowlers.

The 2018 Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour retains a similar schedule to the 2017 season, with nine standard tournaments and four majors, but includes two changes. First, the final round of each standard tournament will now be contested in the bowling center where the qualifying rounds occurred. Second, the final three standard events of the year will feature an “Elite Field” of 24 bowlers, based on season-to-date points list, that are automatically placed into the top 32 for match play. The remaining players will bowl a qualifying round for the other eight spots in match play.

The 2019 PBA Tour season, the 60th season of play for the U.S. Professional Bowlers Association's ten-pin bowling tour, began in January 2019 with the PBA Hall of Fame Classic in Arlington, Texas. The season schedule had 27 singles title events, two doubles title events, and two non-title team events.

Jakob Butturff is a left-handed American ten-pin bowler from Chandler, Arizona and a member of the Professional Bowlers Association. He competes in events on the PBA Tour and in global events as a member of Team USA. He has won eight national PBA Tour titles and 27 PBA Regional Tour titles. Jakob also rolled the 28th of the PBA Tour's 35 televised 300 games.

PBA on Fox is the branding used for Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) broadcasts produced by Fox Sports and airing on the Fox broadcast network and Fox Sports 1 (FS1). On March 21, 2018, the PBA announced that Fox Sports signed a multi-year agreement to acquire the television rights to its events beginning in 2019 and running through at least 2022. Most events will be carried by FS1, but at least four events per season will air on the Fox broadcast network.

The PBA Tour Playoffs is an annual invitational event on the PBA Tour in North America that debuted in the 2019 season. After two years as a 24-player tournament, the event was set up in a 16-player bracket-style format since 2021.

The season included 16 title events, three special non-title events, and the PBA League team event.

The 2024 PBA Tour season, the 65th season of play for the U.S. Professional Bowlers Association's ten-pin bowling tour, began on January 9 with the pre-tournament qualifier (PTQ) of the PBA Players Championship. The season currently includes 16 singles title events, two doubles title events, and a non-title team event.
