The 2024 Civic Coalition presidential primary were the third Polish presidential primary election after the 2010 and 2019 primaries for the Civic Platform party. [1] The primary was organized by the coalition following the decision by Donald Tusk not to run for president again (he lost in a runoff to Lech Kaczyński in 2005 and has served as prime minister from 2007 to 2014 and since 2023). Two main candidates emerged: Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski and Mayor of Warsaw, candidate for president in 2020 Rafał Trzaskowski. [2] All parties of the Civic Coalition (Civic Platform, Modern, Polish Initiative, The Greens) were invited to take part in the primaries. [3] [4] [5] The voting took place on 22 November 2024, and the party's nominee, Rafał Trzaskowski, was announced the following day. 22,126 votes were cast in the primary. [6] [7] [8] [9]

Presidential elections were held in Poland on 28 June 2020. As no candidate received a majority of the vote, a second round was held on 12 July, in which incumbent president Andrzej Duda, running with the support of Law and Justice, faced off against Civic Platform vice-chairman and Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski. In the second round Duda was re-elected for a second term with 51% of the vote, becoming the first incumbent to win re-election since Aleksander Kwaśniewski in 2000.

Rafał Kazimierz Trzaskowski is a Polish politician who has been serving as city mayor of Warsaw since 22 November 2018. He is also a political scientist specializing in European studies. He publicly supports European integration, the introduction of same-sex marriage, ecological transformation and a greater role for local governments in voivodeships.

The Civic Coalition is a catch-all political alliance currently ruling in Poland. The alliance was formed in 2018 around Civic Platform, in opposition to the then-ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party.

In the run up to the 2023 Polish parliamentary election, various organisations carried out opinion polling to gauge voting intention in Poland. Results of such polls are displayed in this article. The date range for these opinion polls are from the previous parliamentary election, held on 13 October 2019, to the day of the election, held on 15 October 2023.

They declared the will to construct "one broad list in European Parliament election, the aim of which would be to restore Poland's strong position in the European Union". The first round of the presidential election will be held in Poland on 18 May 2025 and, if necessary, the second round will be held on 1 June 2025. However, they can be held earlier should the office become vacated as a result of death, resignation, or removal from office of the incumbent Andrzej Duda. Duda is ineligible for re-election, as he was already elected twice; Law and Justice therefore declared Karol Nawrocki as their candidate.
