The 2024 Indoor Football League season will be the sixteenth season of the Indoor Football League (IFL). It will also be the second year it will function as a de facto minor league of the XFL, and now the USFL due to the leagues merging into the UFL.

Offseason

IFL to XFL

During the 2023 XFL Draft, reigning IFL Most Valuable Player, T. J. Edwards, was selected by the San Antonio Brahmas and IFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Kordell Jackson, was drafted by the Orlando Guardians. [1]

Expansion

On August 20, 2023, the league announced they would be adding the three-time, and defending, National Arena League champions in the Jacksonville Sharks as their 15th franchise. [2] On September 26, the league added the San Antonio Gunslingers as their 16th franchise to even out the conferences. [3] The Bismarck Bucks, which last played in the 2022 season, delayed their return to 2024, [4] while the prospective Columbus Wild Dogs (first announced for the 2020 season) announced they will push their inaugural season to 2025. [5]

Relocation

On November 6, 2023, the Arizona Rattlers announced their move to Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona and the Massachusetts Pirates announced that they had signed a multi-year lease with the Tsongas Center at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, beginning with this season. [6] [7]

Media

In 2023, IFL announced a new broadcasting agreement with CBS Sports Network ensuring that the next three IFL National Championship games will air on the network. The deal also allows for additional games to be aired on CBS throughout the agreement. [17] All other IFL games will still be streamed through YouTube, while some teams also have individual contracts with local or regional TV and radio channels.

Mike Anthony Tatum is an American football coach who is the head coach and offensive coordinator for the Omaha Beef of the National Arena League (NAL). He is former indoor American football wide receiver for the Nebraska Danger, Bismarck Bucks and the Sioux Falls Storm of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played college football at Oxnard College. He signed as an undrafted free agent with the Marion Mayhem in 2009. He played with the Mayhem until their disbanding during the 2010 season. Tatum then finished the 2010 season with the Fort Wayne FireHawks. Tatum then returned to Marion in 2011, when a new franchise called the Marion Blue Racers expanded into the CIFL. Tatum has also played for the Everett Raptors of the IFL.

Lamar Mady is an American football center for the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He was signed by the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He played college football for Youngstown State.

Rayshaun Kizer is an American football coach who is the defensive coordinator of the Tucson Sugar Skulls of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He was the former head coach and defensive coordinator of the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League (IFL) and of the Omaha Beef of Champions Indoor Football (CIF). He is also a former National Football League, Canadian Football League, and Arena Football League defensive back. He played his college football at Walsh University and graduated with his bachelor's degree in Computer Science. He has been a member of the New York Jets of the National Football League, Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League, Orlando Predators, Philadelphia Soul, Arizona Rattlers, New Orleans VooDoo, Los Angeles KISS and Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League and Green Bay Blizzard of the Arena Football 2. He also served as the assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and special teams coach of the Bismarck Bucks of the IFL.

Allen Chapman is a former American football cornerback. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2013. Chapman played in the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played college football at Kansas State.

Martrell Spaight is an American football linebacker who is a free agent. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL draft. He played college football at the University of Arkansas. He has also been a member of the Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Massachusetts Pirates and Vegas Vipers.

Chris McAllister is an American football defensive end for the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He attended Judson High School in Converse, Texas; upon graduating in 2009, he played football at Baylor University. During his time at Baylor, McAllister recorded a total of 15.0 sacks; this left him tied for the record of most career sacks in Baylor history. He led the team in sacks in 2012 and 2013.

The IFL National Championship is the Indoor Football League's championship game. It has been played every year since 2009, except for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current champions are the Bay Area Panthers, who won their first IFL National Championship in 2023, their second season in the league. The Sioux Falls Storm won six straight United Bowls from 2011 to 2016.

Ernesto Lacayo is an American football placekicker for the Duke City Gladiators of the Indoor Football League (IFL).

The 2017 Indoor Football League season was the ninth season of the Indoor Football League (IFL). Playing with ten teams in two conferences spread across the midwestern and western United States, the league's regular season kicked off on February 16, 2017, when the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles hosted the Nebraska Danger. The regular season ended 18 weeks later on June 18, 2017, with the defending league champion Sioux Falls Storm visiting the Iowa Barnstormers and the Wichita Falls Nighthawks visiting the Nebraska Danger. The playoffs were held in two rounds, with the top two seeds in each conference playing against each other in the conference championships. The winner of those games met in the United Bowl.

The Massachusetts Pirates are a professional indoor football team of the Indoor Football League based in Lowell, Massachusetts, with home games at the Tsongas Center. The Pirates began play in the 2018 season as a member of the National Arena League (NAL).

The 2019 Indoor Football League season was the eleventh of the Indoor Football League (IFL). The league played this season with ten teams, up from six the previous season, by adding two expansion teams and two teams from Champions Indoor Football.

The Tucson Sugar Skulls are a professional indoor American football team based in Tucson, Arizona. They are members of the Indoor Football League (IFL) since the 2019 season as an expansion team. They play home games at Tucson Convention Center's Tucson Arena. The team are led by owners Cathy Guy, wife of Arizona Rattlers' head coach Kevin Guy, and Ali Farhang. Their head coach is Hurtis Chinn.

The 2021 Indoor Football League season was the thirteenth season of the Indoor Football League (IFL). The league played the season with twelve teams, down from thirteen the previous season, by adding one expansion team, one team from the National Arena League, one team from the American Arena League, and four teams going on hiatus. In addition, three existing teams made their IFL on-field debut after the 2020 season was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2023 Indoor Football League season was the fifteenth season of the Indoor Football League (IFL). It was the first year of the IFL and the XFL player personnel partnership, with the IFL functioning as their de facto minor league.

Vincent Frank Testaverde Jr. is an American football quarterback for the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football for Texas Tech, Miami, and Albany. After going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He also had stints with the Tampa Bay Vipers and St. Louis Battlehawks of the XFL, BC Lions and Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL), Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League (IFL), and the Albany Empire of the National Arena League (NAL). He is the son of former NFL quarterback Vinny Testaverde.

Geremy Hickbottom is an American football quarterback for the Tucson Sugar Skulls of the Indoor Football League (IFL). He played college football for Grambling State and Tennessee State. He previously played for the Cologne Crocodiles of the German Football League (GFL) and the Massachusetts Pirates of the Indoor Football League (IFL).

Drew Powell is an indoor American football quarterback for the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football for Livingstone College.
