The 2024 Liberty Bowl is a college football bowl game that is scheduled to be played on December 27, 2024, at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium located in Memphis, Tennessee. The 66th annual Liberty Bowl game will feature teams from the Big 12 Conference and the Southeastern Conference. The game is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. CST and will air on ESPN. [2] [3] The Liberty Bowl will be one of the 2024–25 bowl games that will be concluding the 2024 FBS football season. The bowl game will be sponsored by automotive retailer AutoZone, and the game is officially known as the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
Consistent with conference tie-ins, the game will feature the Texas Tech Red Raiders from the Big 12 Conference and the Arkansas Razorbacks from the Southeastern Conference (SEC). This will be the 38th meeting between the Red Raiders and Razorbacks, with Arkansas leading the overall series 29–8.
Texas Tech will be making their second appearance in the Liberty Bowl, having won their only previous game in 2021. The Red Raiders, led by third-year head coach Joey McGuire, finished the regular season with an overall record of 8–4 with a Big 12 record of 6–3. On December 14, Texas Tech announced that starting quarterback Behren Morton would miss the game due to shoulder surgery. [4] True freshman Will Hammond was named the Red Raiders' starter for the bowl game. [5]
Arkansas will be making their seventh appearance in the Liberty Bowl, which is the most by any team. Arkansas is 3–3 in previous games. The Razorbacks, led by fifth-year head coach Sam Pittman, finished the regular season with an overall record of 6–6 with a SEC record of 3–5.

The Liberty Bowl is an annual American college football bowl game played in late December or early January since 1959. For its first five years, it was played at Philadelphia Municipal Stadium in Philadelphia before being held at Atlantic City Convention Hall in 1964. Since 1965, the game has been held at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee. Because of the scheduling of the bowl game near the end of the calendar year, no game was played during calendar years 2008 or 2015, while two games were played in calendar years 2010 and 2016.
