A leadership election will be held by the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) in 2 November 2024. [1] [2] This is the second BERSATU leadership election after the 2020 leadership election.

Incumbent President of BERSATU Muhyiddin Yassin confirmed on 25 November 2023 that he would defend his presidency after announcing he would not do so a day earlier. [3] On 6 July 2024, it was confirmed that incumbent Deputy President Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Secretary-General Hamzah Zainudin would compete for the deputy presidency. For the three vice presidencies, incumbent Ronald Kiandee and Radzi Jidin would defend their positions while 10 others including incumbent Information Chief Razali Idris, Spokesperson Wan Saiful Wan Jan, State Chairman of Pahang Saifuddin Abdullah and Election Bureau Chairman Mohd Rafiq Mohd Abdullah have expressed their interest in contesting for the position. However, on 13 July 2024, Muhyiddin proposed a new leadership lineup that has been endorsed and agreed by all members of the Supreme Council and the annual general meeting (AGM) accepting Hamzah Zainudin's promotion to deputy president and Ahmad Faizal Azumu's demotion to vice president. While the other two incumbent vice presidents, Ronald Kiandee and Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, retained their positions. Azmin Ali will appointed as secretary-general of the party. [5] [6] [7]

Datuk Jonathan bin Yasin is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ranau since May 2018. He served as the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs II for the second term in the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration under former Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob and former Minister Hamzah Zainuddin from August 2021 to the collapse of the BN administration in November 2022 and the first term in Perikatan Nasional (PN) administration under former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and former Minister Hamzah from March 2020 to the collapse of the PN administration in August 2021. The 2020–2022 Malaysian political crisis was triggered after several Members of Parliament (MPs) of the 14th Malaysian Parliament changed party support, leading to the loss of a parliamentary majority, the collapse of two successive coalition governments, and the resignation of two Prime Ministers. The political crisis culminated in a 2022 snap general election and eventual formation of a coalition government. This crisis ended in 2022 and Malaysian political crisis continued in the State of Sabah known as 2023 Kinabalu Move.

The Muhyiddin cabinet was formed on 10 March 2020, nine days after Muhyiddin Yassin was appointed as the 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia and dissolved 17 months and 6 days later on 16 August 2021, the day when Muhyiddin submitted his resignations as PM and of this cabinet. It was the 21st cabinet of Malaysia formed since independence. She has served as the 3rd Vice Women Chief of BERSATU since October 2024.

Abu Bakar Hamzah is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Kuala Perlis since November 2022. He is a member of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He is State Deputy Chairman I of PN of Perlis, State Chairman of BERSATU of Perlis and Division Chief of BERSATU of Kangar.

The 2024 Nenggiri by-election was held on 17 August 2024 for the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly seat of Nenggiri. The by-election was called following the disqualification of the incumbent, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, on 19 June 2024 due to his support for the Anwar Ibrahim government. Mohd Azizi had served as a Member of the Kelantan State Legislative Assembly for Nenggiri since 2023, and also as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gua Musang.
