Progressistas is a centre-right to right-wing political party in Brazil. Founded in 1995 as the Brazilian Progressive Party, it emerged from parties that were successors to ARENA, the ruling party of the Brazilian military dictatorship. A pragmatist party, it supported the governments of presidents Fernando Henrique Cardoso, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Dilma Rousseff, Michel Temer and Jair Bolsonaro. Largely it was the party of the politics of Paulo Maluf, a former governor and mayor of São Paulo. Of all political parties, in corruption investigation Operation Car Wash, the Progressistas had the most convictions.
The Brazilian Socialist Party is a political party in Brazil. It was founded in 1947, before being abolished by the military regime in 1965 and re-organised in 1989 after the re-democratisation of Brazil. It elected six Governors in 2010, becoming the second largest party in number of state governments, behind only PSDB. In addition to that, it won 34 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and three seats in the Senate, besides having been a member of the For Brazil to Keep on Changing coalition, which elected Dilma Rousseff as President of Brazil.
Eduardo Henrique Accioly Campos was a Brazilian congressman and governor. Born and raised in Recife, in the Northeast Brazil, he graduated in Economics from the Recife's Federal University of Pernambuco. Campos' maternal grandfather, the governor of the Brazilian state, Pernambuco, made him his Financial Secretary. Campos became a federal congressman in Brazil and got Pernambuco federal money for a shipyard, railways and an oil refinery. Later, as Brazil's Minister for Science and Technology, he supported stem-cell research. He served two terms as governor of his home state, Pernambuco. He helped hospitals, secondary schools, wind power, farms, poor people and anti-crime data-mining. In his 2014 campaign for president of Brazil he criticized the incumbent and her Workers' Party and positioned himself as the business-friendly leader of the Brazilian Socialist Party. For outdoor rallies and local radio interviews, he criss-crossed the country by rented jet. He died on 13 August 2014, three days after his 49th birthday, when his plane crashed in poor weather in the city of Santos.
Marcelo Ribeiro Freixo is a Brazilian politician and teacher affiliated to the Workers' Party (PT). He had served as a federal deputy for the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB), and was formerly chairman of the Defence of Human Rights and Citizenship Commission on the Rio de Janeiro Legislative Assembly.
Márcio Luiz França Gomes is a Brazilian lawyer and politician, member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB), and former governor and vice governor of São Paulo, elected with Geraldo Alckmin in 2014. França assumed the office as governor on 6 April 2018 after Alckmin resigned to run for President of Brazil in the 2018 election. França ran for re-election in 2018, but lost to João Doria by a narrow margin in the run-off.
The 2020 São Paulo municipal election took place in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, with the first round taking place on 15 November 2020 and the second round taking place on 29 November 2020. Voters voted to elect the Mayor, the Vice Mayor and 55 city councillors for the administration of the city. The result was a 2nd round victory for incumbent Mayor Bruno Covas of the Brazilian Social Democratic Party (PSDB), winning 3,169,121 votes and a share of 59,38% of the popular vote, defeating political activist Guilherme Boulos of the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL), who took 2,168,109 votes and a share of 40.62% of the popular vote.
Raquel Teixeira Lyra Lucena is a Brazilian lawyer, politician and the current governor of Pernambuco since 2023. Lyra was mayor of Caruaru from 2017 to 2022. A member of a political family, she previously served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco. She is affiliated to the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) but was a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB).
Municipal elections took place in Brazil on 15 November 2020. Electors chose Mayors, Vice-Mayors and City Councillors of all 5,568 cities of the country. The partisan conventions took place between 31 August and 16 September. They were the first elections since Bolsonaro's election as President.

João Henrique de Andrade Lima Campos, is a Brazilian politician who has been the mayor of Recife since 2021. He was first elected as a federal deputy to the Chamber of Deputies for the state of Pernambuco during the 2018 general election as a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB). He is the son of former government minister and governor of Pernambuco Eduardo Campos.
The 2022 Pernambuco state elections took place in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil on 2 October 2022. Voters elected a governor, vice governor, one senator, 25 representatives for the Chamber of Deputies, and 49 Legislative Assembly members. Paulo Câmara, the incumbent governor of Pernambuco, was reelected in the first round in 2018 Pernambuco gubernatorial election, with 1,918,219 votes, the equivalent to 50.70% of the valid votes. He wasn't eligible for a new term, since he ran for governor in 2014 and 2018. In a crowded field, former mayor of Caruaru Raquel Lyra (PSDB) defeated Federal Deputy Marília Arraes (Solidarity) by close to 20 points in the second round. She was inaugurated on 1 January 2023.
Carlos Siqueira is a Brazilian lawyer and politician who serves, since 2014, as national president of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB). Besides his high position in the party, he never ran for any political office. Siqueira had served as president of João Mangabeira Foundation, the PSB think tank, and was member of the Order of Attorneys of Brazil section of Pernambuco.
Pedro Henrique de Andrade Lima Carneiro Campos is a Brazilian civil engineer and politician, affiliated with the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB). He was elected as a federal deputy from the state of Pernambuco in 2022. He is the son of former government minister and governor of Pernambuco Eduardo Campos.
José Sarto Nogueira Moreira is a physician and a Brazilian politician affiliated to the Democratic Labour Party (PDT). He has been the mayor of Fortaleza, the capital city of Ceará since 2021.
José Eriberto Medeiros is a Brazilian politician affiliated with the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB). He was a state deputy and president of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Alepe). In 2022, he was elected federal deputy.
