The 2014 season was São Paulo's 85th year since the club's existence. The team played the Campeonato Paulista between January and March being defeated in the quarterfinal single match against Penapolense, after a 0-0 draw in the home stadium Morumbi, São Paulo's fall in the penalty shootout by 4-5. In the Copa do Brasil the club reach the third round when it was beaten by Bragantino with an aggregated score of 3-4. The club took his best performance in the continental tournament reaching the semifinals being defeated by Colombian club Atlético Nacional in two legs. Playing the national cup, Copa do Brasil, The Dearest was eliminated by Juventude in away goal rule after an aggregated final score of 2–2. São Paulo ended the year reaching the 10th place in the league with the same number of wins, 14, and 10 draws. A fewer weeks after the end of Copa Libertadores, the Argentine head coach, Edgardo Bauza was chosen by Argentine Football Association to lead the National Team, leaving the club at the beginning of August.

The 2025 season will be the 111st season in the existence of Clube Atlético Mineiro and the 19th consecutive season in the top flight of Brazilian football.
