The player draft for the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League took place on 13 January 2025. [1] [2]
On 4 January 2025, the Pakistan Cricket Board opened the registration window for foreign players and the trade window. [3]
On 04 January 2025, the retained player's list was announced. [4] The franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of eight players from the previous season. All the franchises fully utilized their quota of player retentions apart from Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi.

The 2017 Pakistan Super League, was the second season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2016. On 19 October 2016, at the 2017 player draft, league chairman Najam Sethi announced that the final of the 2017 tournament might be played in Lahore, Pakistan, depending on the security situation there. The PCB confirmed it was their intention to play the final in Lahore in January 2017 with players being flown into and out of Pakistan during a short window either side of the final. The Umpire Decision Review System (DRS) was used in play-off matches. The defending champions Islamabad United were eliminated in the first Eliminator. The 2017 PSL was broadcast in more than 10 territories. According to Najam Sethi ratings were higher than the previous season.
The 2018 Pakistan Super League player draft was the player draft for third season of the Pakistan Super League, held on 12 November 2017 in Lahore. Each franchise was allowed to pick 16 players from total 501 players; including Pakistani and foreign cricketers who took part in the draft. They divided into five different categories; Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver and Emerging and Supplementary. This was Multan Sultans' inaugural season, they were allowed to pick 9 players prior to the draft.

More than 630 players ware included in the draft, from which each franchise finalised a squad of 16 players along with 4 supplementary players. The tournament was the fourth season of Pakistan Super League, and took place between 14 February and 17 March 2019.
The player draft for the 2020 Pakistan Super League took place at National Cricket Academy, Lahore on 6 December 2019. The first round took place on 3 November 2019 to determine pick order. As this season was scheduled to be held entirely in Pakistan, only the players who were comfortable with playing in Pakistan were included in this draft.
The player draft for the sixth edition of the 2021 Pakistan Super League took place on 10 January 2021. Before the draft, the teams were allowed to retain a maximum of 8 players and make any transfers that they saw necessary. More than 400 players from over 20 different countries featured at the draft. From these players, the teams each selected 16 players along with 2 extra supplementary players to complete their 18-man squads. The draft was completed one month before the main tournament the 2021 Pakistan Super League started, in late February. Due to the suspension of the tournament because of COVID-19, a replacement draft was held.
2023 Pakistan Super League was the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Then PCB chairman Ramiz Raja had hinted at an auction based system to replace the draft for the 2023 season but a draft was retained. The draft for the tournament was held on 15 December in Karachi. A total of 36 foreign players were picked alongside local players. Lahore Qalandars were the defending champions.

Starting from 2026, the PSL will expand to become an eight-team league, with two new franchises set to join the competition.
