Qualifying for the 2027 Rugby World Cup for Europe will commence on 1 February 2025, with eight teams competing for four qualification spots (Europe 1, 2, 3, 4) and one spot (Europe 5) in the Final Qualification Tournament. [1]

Format

The 2025 Rugby Europe Championship, governed by Rugby Europe, will act as the regional qualification tournament for Rugby World Cup 2027, with the competing eight sides grouped into two pools of four. The first phase will see the top 2 sides from each pool qualify for the World Cup, with the second phase made up of semi-finals, third-match final and the final determining the seeding for the World Cup. Whilst the Fifth-place final will see the fifth ranked side advance to the Final Qualification Tournament.

The Russia national rugby union team, nicknamed Medvedi, represented Russia in men's international rugby union international competitions. The team is administered by the Rugby Union of Russia (RUR). The Women's Rugby League World Cup is an international rugby league tournament, contested by the women's national teams of the International Rugby League (IRL). Under the current format, eight teams are separated into two groups of four with the top two in each group qualifying for the semi-finals.

The Spain women's national rugby union team played their first match on 2 May 1989, against France, losing 0-28. The team played the Women's Six Nations from 2000 to 2006, but they were replaced by Italy for 2007, in order to mirror the men's tournament.

The Ireland national rugby sevens team competes in several international rugby sevens competitions. The team is governed by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU).

The 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup is scheduled to be the eleventh edition of the Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's rugby union teams. It is scheduled to take place in Australia from 1 October to 13 November 2027.

The 2027 IHF World Men's Handball Championship, will be the 30th event hosted by the International Handball Federation. It will take place in Germany in January 2027.

The qualification process for the 2021 Rugby World Cup began on 9 August 2019 with 12 teams qualifying to the tournament which was to be held in New Zealand. The 2021 Rugby World Cup was postponed by one year in March 2021 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2026 Men's Rugby League World Cup qualification will decide the teams that will join the quarter-finalists from the previous World Cup at the 2026 Rugby League World Cup. The location of the tournament will be held in two venues within France.

The 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup will be the tenth edition of the women's Rugby World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for national rugby union teams, organised by World Rugby. It is scheduled to take place in England between 22 August and 27 September 2025. The opening game will take place at the Stadium of Light with the final scheduled to be held at Twickenham Stadium.

The 2026 Women's Rugby League World Cup qualification was announced on December. It will feature four confederation qualification tournaments for each of the four International Rugby League confederations. The two group winners of Europe will directly qualify, while the playoff winner of the two runners up will face the winners of other three tournaments in the 2025 World Series for the final two spots in the 2026 Women's Rugby League World Cup.

The qualification process for the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup in England began during the knockout stage of the 2021 tournament in New Zealand, at which the four teams that reached the semi-finals qualified automatically for the 2025 event. A further six teams will qualify as winners of six regional tournaments in 2024. The final six spots will go to the highest-finishing WXV teams who have not yet qualified.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2027 Men's Rugby World Cup qualifying</span> Rugby World Cup qualification process

The qualification process for the 2027 Men's Rugby World Cup in Australia began during the pool stages of the 2023 tournament in France, at which the top three teams from each of the four pools qualified automatically for the 2027 event. With an expansion to twenty four teams from 2027, a further twelve teams will qualify through regional, cross-regional play-offs and the Final Qualification Tournament.

Qualifying for the 2027 Rugby World Cup for South America will begin in August 2024, with eight teams competing for one direct qualification spot into the final tournament. The runner up will play the bottom side ranked in the 2025 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup for a second direct place in the final tournament and the loser progressing to the Final Qualification Tournament. The third ranked side will also qualify for a place in the Final Qualification Tournament.

The 2025 Rugby Europe Championship will be the ninth Rugby Europe Championship, the annual rugby union competition for the top European national teams outside the Six Nations Championship, and the 54th edition of the competition.

Qualifying for the 2027 Rugby World Cup for Africa began in July 2024, with 16 teams competing for one direct qualification spot into the final tournament.

Qualifying for the 2027 Rugby World Cup for Asia commenced in April 2024, with eight teams competing for one qualification spot and one spot in a play-off match.
