The 22nd Senate of Puerto Rico was the upper house of the 14th Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico that met from January 2, 2001 to January 1, 2005. All members were elected in the General Elections of 2000. The Senate had a majority of members from the Popular Democratic Party (PPD). [1]

The Senate of Puerto Rico is the upper house of the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico, the territorial legislature of Puerto Rico. The Senate, together with the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico, control the legislative branch of the government of Puerto Rico.
The House of Representatives of Puerto Rico is the lower house of the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico, the bicameral territorial legislature of Puerto Rico. The House, together with the Senate, control the legislative branch of the government of Puerto Rico.
The Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico is the territorial legislature of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, responsible for the legislative branch of the government of Puerto Rico. The Assembly is a bicameral legislature consisting of an upper house, the Senate normally composed by 27 senators, and the lower house, the House of Representatives normally composed by 51 representatives. Eleven members of each house are elected at-large rather than from a specific legislative district with all members being elected for a four-year term without term limits.
Thomas Rivera Schatz is an Puerto Rican politician, legal advisor, attorney, and former prosecutor. Rivera Schatz is the fourteenth and sixteenth President of the Senate of Puerto Rico. He is affiliated with New Progressive Party of Puerto Rico and the mainland Republican Party. On 22 July 2019, Schatz announced that he will take over as acting chair of the PNP following the resignation of Ricardo Rosselló due to the Telegramgate scandal.
Elections in Puerto Rico are guaranteed by Article VI of the Constitution of Puerto Rico and the Electoral Code of Puerto Rico for the 21st Century Act. All processes are overseen and managed in whole by the Puerto Rico State Elections Commission; an autonomous agency of the executive branch of the government of Puerto Rico.
Liza Fernández Rodríguez is a Puerto Rican attorney and politician affiliated with the New Progressive Party (PNP). Fernández was a member of the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico from 2005 to 2012, and of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 2012 to 2013. In December 2012, after her electoral defeat, Fernández was confirmed as a Superior Judge.
Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia is a Puerto Rican attorney, lobbyist, and politician who served as de facto governor of Puerto Rico from August 2 to August 7, 2019, when the territory's Supreme Court ruled his assumption of office was unconstitutional.
Melinda Kathleen Romero Donnelly is a Puerto Rican politician, and former Senator and Representative for the New Progressive Party (PNP). She is the youngest daughter of former Governor of Puerto Rico Carlos Romero Barceló and Kate de Romero. During a break from her political career, Romero worked as a journalist for the Caribbean Business newspaper.
José Luis Dalmau Santiago is a Puerto Rican attorney, politician and Senator. He is the current assistant party leader of the Popular Democratic Party in the Senate of Puerto Rico.
Roberto Rexach Benítez also known as his stage name Bobby, was a Puerto Rican politician, and former Senator and Representative. Rexach Benítez served as the tenth President of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1993 to 1996. He also served as a member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives from 1973 to 1976, under the Popular Democratic Party (PPD) and as a member of the Senate (1985–1998) under the pro-statehood New Progressive Party (PNP).
Antonio "Tony" J. Fas Alzamora is a Puerto Rican politician and Senator. He is currently the longest-serving legislator in the history of Puerto Rico, having served in ten Legislative Assemblies, one House of Representatives, and nine Senates.
The 16th Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico will meet from January 2, 2009, to January 1, 2013. All members of the House of Representatives and the Senate were elected in the General Elections of 2008. The House and the Senate both have a majority of members from the New Progressive Party.
Charles Henry Juliá Barreras was a three-time member of the Senate of Puerto Rico. He won a seat in the Senate of Puerto Rico for the Partido Estadista Republicano in the 1952, 1956 and 1960 elections. He was a delegate to Republican National Convention from Puerto Rico in 1956 and 1960. In the seventies he was also a judge in San Juan.
Lawrence N. "Larry" Seilhamer Rodríguez is a Puerto Rican politician affiliated with the pro-statehood New Progressive Party (PNP), and was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from January 7, 2009 until January 15, 2020. Seilhamer is also a former basketball player for the Baloncesto Superior Nacional from 1972 to 1984.
Roger J. Iglesias Suárez is a Puerto Rican politician. He was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1992 to 2000 and 2011 to 2013. In 2011, he was elected to fill the vacant seat left by the resignation of Héctor Martínez.
Velda González de Modestti was a Puerto Rican actress, dancer, comedian, politician and former Senator. She was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1981 to 2005.
Jorge Alberto Ramos Comas was a Puerto Rican politician and former senator. He was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 1997 to 2000 representing the Popular Democratic Party (PPD).

Miguel A. Pereira Castillo is a Puerto Rican politician, attorney, and public servant. Throughout his career, he has served in various government positions like Director of the Puerto Rico Ports Authority, Superintendent of the Puerto Rico Police Department and Secretary of the Puerto Rico Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. In 2012, he was elected to the Senate of Puerto Rico for the District of Guayama.
The 26th Senate of Puerto Rico is the upper house of the 18th Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico. Its counterpart in the lower house is the 30th House of Representatives of Puerto Rico.
