William Orioha (born 3 March 1979), known professionally as 2Shotz, is a former Nigerian rapper and songwriter who is now a US-based photographer and filmmaker. [2] He won the award for Best Collaboration at The Headies 2006. [3] His debut studio album Pirated Copy was released in 2004. It was supported by three singles: "Carry Am Go", "Odeshi" and "Delicious". [4] 2Shotz's second studio album Original Copy was released in 2005. He released his third studio album Commercial Avenue in 2007. His fourth studio album Music Business was released in 2008. 2Shotz released I am William and Loud Silence as his fifth and sixth studio albums in 2010 and 2016, respectively. [5] He is a hip hop artist who raps in English, Pidgin and Igbo. [6]

Early life and education

2Shotz was born in Surulere, Lagos State, southwestern region of Nigeria, to a family of three members. He is a native of Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State, southeastern Nigeria. He went to Government College Umuahia for his secondary education. 2Shotz graduated with a degree in industrial relations and personnel management from Lagos State University (LASU). [7]

Music career

2Shotz started singing while in secondary school and decided to pursue a career in music prior to enrolling at LASU. In 1999, he teamed up with 2Ply to form the group Foremen. They signed a record deal with eLDee's Trybesmen in 2000 and released their debut album Men at Work under the label. The album was supported by the single "For the Men". 2Shotz signed a solo deal with Trybe Records following the group's disbandment in 2000. [8] He later joined the group The Trybe and recorded the 2001 song "Oya" with them. [9] In 2005, he launched his record label Umunnamu Music. [2] [10] He joined Obi Asika's record label Storm Records a year later, but exited the label to focus on Umunnamu Music. [11] In 2016, he quit music to pursue a career in photography and filmmaking and said he was under-appreciated in Nigeria. [12] [13]

Personal life

2Shotz married his girlfriend, whom he met on Twitter, at the Ikoyi Marriage Registry on 12 April 2013. [14] [15] They have a daughter who was born in Ireland on 12 March 2015. [16] 2Shotz separated from his wife in December 2015 after she accused him of domestic violence. [17]

His debut studio album Everybody Loves Ice Prince was released in 2011. It was supported by three singles: "Oleku", "Superstar" and "Juju". In 2013, Ice Prince released Fire of Zamani as his second studio album. The album contained the singles "Aboki", "More", "Gimme Dat" and "I Swear". On 1 July 2015, Ice Prince was announced as the vice president of Chocolate City. He held the position until he left the label in 2016. Teria Yarhere is a Nigerian rapper from Delta State who performs under the name M Trill. He released his debut studio album Number One in 2008 along with a follow-up mixtape entitled Ladies and Gentlemen (2010). That same year, he won the "Best West African Act" at the Channel O Music Video Awards for his single "Bounce". M Trill has been featured on songs with Timaya, Cyrus da Virus, Ruggedman, Slim Burna, 2shotz, A-Q, Kraftmatiks, Modenine, Godwon, Evaezi, and Pyrelli among others. He was ranked by BellaNaija magazine as one of the illest rappers in the game.

Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, known professionally as Adekunle Gold and AG Baby, is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter currently signed to Def Jam Recordings. He gained widespread attention after releasing the 2015 hit single "Sade", a highlife cover of One Direction's "Story of My Life". He signed a record deal with YBNL Nation and released his 2015 debut studio album Gold, which debuted at number 7 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Gold was preceded by the release of three singles: "Sade", "Orente" and "Pick Up". Oludemilade Martin Alejo, known professionally as Ycee, is a Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter. He gained popularity after his single "Condo", which features vocals by Patoranking, earned him two nominations at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. He was also nominated for Best Artist in African Pop at the 2015 All Africa Music Awards and for Next Rated at The Headies 2016. Ycee signed a record deal with Sony Music in October 2016, but terminated his contract with the label in February 2018.

Ladipo Eso popularly known as Ladipoe or Poe is a Nigerian rapper and musician. On 28 February 2017, Ladipoe signed a record deal with Mavin Records. He rose to prominence with the song "Feel Alright" where he got featured by SDC "Show Dem Camp". He also released a new single "Jaiye" in March 2019 before dropping the hit song, "Know You" featuring Nigerian Joromi singer, Simi. He is also a member of the Nigerian supergroup Collectiv3 and goes by the alias, “Leader of The New Revival”.
