3,4,5-Tri-O-galloylquinic acid is a hydrolysable tannin found in Lepidobotrys staudtii , [1] in Guiera senegalensis [2] or in the resurrection plant ( Myrothamnus flabellifolius ). [3]
It is classified as a natural product with anti-HIV activity [1] and a DNA polymerase inhibitor. [4]

Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) is an aminopolycarboxylic acid with the formula [CH2N(CH2CO2H)2]2. This white, water-soluble solid is widely used to bind to iron (Fe2+/Fe3+) and calcium ions (Ca2+), forming water-soluble complexes even at neutral pH. It is thus used to dissolve Fe- and Ca-containing scale as well as to deliver iron ions under conditions where its oxides are insoluble. EDTA is available as several salts, notably disodium EDTA, sodium calcium edetate, and tetrasodium EDTA, but these all function similarly.

Guiera is a flowering plant genus in the family Combretaceae. Guiera senegalensis is the only known species in the genus, found in Tropical Africa in dry areas from Senegal to Sudan. The plant produces the tannin 3,4,5-Tri-O-galloylquinic acid and several alkaloids of the harmane family.
Myrothamnus flabellifolius is a plant species in the genus Myrothamnus found in Southern Africa. It is also called the resurrection plant, for the speed with which apparently dead leaves revive when the rains come.
