Tokyo International Film Festival

The 35th Tokyo International Film Festival was a film festival that took place from 24 October to 2 November 2022. [1] American writer-director Julie Taymor served as jury president. [2] With The Beasts winning the Tokyo Grand Prix, the festival's top prize, Rodrigo Sorogoyen became the second Spanish director to achieve the prize, after Alejandro Amenábar in 1998.

Contents

The official poster for the festival was created by fashion designer Koshino Junko and is intended to represent "the theme of leaping forward" and the "creative explosion" in the film and fashion industries after the COVID-19 pandemic. [3] [4]

The festival opened with Fragments of the Last Will directed by Takahisa Zeze [5] and closed with Living directed by Oliver Hermanus. [6]

Her film Frida, about Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, was nominated for five Academy Awards, including a Best Original Song nomination for Taymor's composition "Burn It Blue". She also directed the 2007 jukebox musical film Across the Universe, based on the music of the Beatles.

Rolf de Heer is a Dutch Australian film director. De Heer was born in Heemskerk in the Netherlands but migrated to Sydney when he was eight years old. He attended the Australian Film, Television and Radio School in Sydney. His company is called Vertigo Productions and is based in Adelaide. De Heer primarily makes alternative or arthouse films. According to the jacket notes of the videotape, de Heer holds the honor of co-producing and directing the only motion picture, Dingo, in which the jazz legend Miles Davis appears as an actor. Miles Davis collaborated with Michel Legrand on the score.

Rodrigo Sorogoyen del Amo is a Spanish film director and screenwriter. He won the Goya Award for Best Director and the Goya Award for Best Original Screenplay for The Realm, a feat he repeated for The Beasts. He was previously nominated for the Goya Award for Best New Director for Stockholm, and the Goya Award for Best Director and the Goya Award for Best Original Screenplay for May God Save Us. For the short film Mother, Sorogoyen won the Goya Award for Best Fictional Short Film and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. He often works in tandem with Isabel Peña.
