The 38th General Assembly of Prince Edward Island was in session from March 29, 1916, to June 26, 1919. The Conservative Party led by John Alexander Mathieson formed the government. Aubin-Edmond Arsenault succeeded Mathieson as Premier and party leader in 1917.

Following several votes against his party in the 38th General Assembly, Dewar lost the Conservative nomination in his district. He ran and won re-election as an Independent the 1919 election, but was unable to win in 1923.

The assembly was elected on October 3, 2011 with a landslide re-election for Robert Ghiz and the Liberals. Ghiz resigned as premier on February 23, 2015 and was succeeded by Wade MacLauchlan, who wasn't a member of the 64th General Assembly.
