3M8S (pronounced Three mates) was a Flemish Belgian boyband in the early 2010s made up of Dean Delannoit, Kevin Kayirangwa and Dennis De Neyer, all former contestants on Belgian Idool .

The band was formed in May 2012 when the three members decided to join forces in a band with each one also continuing their solo careers whenever possible. The band usually sings English language. The name was chosen on the basis of a competition by the youth magazine JOEPIE.

The band has been relatively successful and took part in the preliminary rounds for preliminary rounds of "Eurosong 2014" to try to represent Belgium in 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, and was eliminated in the early rounds of the selection. Later the boy band announced that it would stop so that members would focus on their solo career.

Idool 2003 was the first season of the Belgian version of the Idol series. It was won by Peter Evrard, and followed by Idool 2004. The series was officially launched on 28 September 2002 by Belgian television network VTM. The hosts of the show are Koen & Kris Wauters of the group Clouseau. The jury members were Jean Blaute, Nina De Man, Jan Leyers & Bart Brusseleers.

Idool 2004 was the second season of the Flemish version of the Idol series. It was won by Joeri Fransen, who could not follow the footsteps of former winner Peter Evrard and only release one album before he was dropped by his record company. However, second runner-up Sandrine Van Handenhoven, who was a longtime favorite throughout the season above the winner and the runner-up, enjoyed an ongoing success as a singer as well as the host of the Flemish Big Brother programme and therefore is now considered as the unofficial winner of Idool 2005 as she almost represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, coming in close 2nd in the national final. Laura Ramaekers has already been a semifinalist on Idool 2003.

Idool is the Belgian version of the Idol series. The series was launched in late 2002 by Belgian television network vtm. The contestants are first narrowed down to 100 contestants, and then down to 30-50 through several auditions and tests by a panel of judges. From this point on, the viewers decide who are in and who are out, and the judges limit themselves to commenting. TV viewers being what they are, the votes are based not solely on the singer's vocal performance, but also on his or her looks, clothes, entertainment value, and other factors.
