The 41st Robert Awards ceremony, presented by Danish Film Academy on 3 February 2024, to honour the best in Danish film and television of 2023. [1] It took place at the Tivoli Hotel & Congress Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark and was hosted by actress Lise Baastrup. [2]

Contents

Epic historical drama The Promised Land won eight awards out of fourteen nominations, including Best Danish Film. [3] Documentary film Apolonia, Apolonia won all five awards out of its nominations. Other winners included Unruly with two. DR1's crime drama series Prisoner won five awards, including Best Danish Television Series and every acting category. Film producer Marianne Moritzen received this year's Robert Honorary Award. [4] Film producer Sara Stockmann received the Ib Award. [5]

Birgitte Hjort Sørensen is a Danish actress. She has been nominated for three Robert Awards and one Bodil Award. Born in Hillerød and raised in Birkerød, Sørensen aspired to an acting career after watching the West End production of the musical Chicago while at school. She graduated from the Danish National School of Performing Arts. Her acting debut was in a minor role in the television series The Eagle in 2005. She followed this by playing Roxie Hart in a Copenhagen production of Chicago, and later on the West End. Sørensen's breakthrough role was as journalist Katrine Fønsmark in the television political drama Borgen.

The Robert Award for Best Director is presented at an annual Robert Award show hosted by the Danish Film Academy. The category was introduced in 2001 and all directors of Danish films irrespective of the language of the film are eligible. The winner is selected among five nominees.

<i>Rita</i> (TV series) Danish comedy-drama TV series

Rita is a Danish comedy-drama television series created by Christian Torpe for TV 2. It premiered in Denmark on 9 February 2012, and concluded on 20 July 2020, with 40 episodes broadcast over five seasons. Produced by SF Studios, the series was filmed in Rødovre, Zealand, and executive-produced by Keld Reinicke, Karoline Leth, Lars Bjørn Hansen, Birdie Bjerregaard, Christian Rank, Jennifer Green, and Torpe, who also served as head writer. All episodes are available internationally on streaming service Netflix, who partnered with TV 2 to produce the later three seasons, becoming a Netflix Original.

The Robert Honorary Award has been given occasionally since 1986 as one of the Robert Awards by the Danish Film Academy. It is the Danish equivalent of the American Academy Honorary Award.

The Bodil Special Award is one of the awards at the annual Bodil Awards presented by the Danish Film Critics Association. While the Bodil Awards as such were established in 1948, the Special Award was first presented in 2008, and has been given annually to a person or an organization who has done something special for Danish cinema.

The Henning Bahs Award is a film award established in 2012 by the Danish Film Critics Association in collaboration with the Association of Danish Scenographers in honour of the Danish screenwriter and special effects designer Henning Bahs. It is given for excellence in production design and presented at the annual Bodil Awards-ceremony.

The Bodil Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role is one of the merit categories presented by the Danish Film Critics Association at the annual Bodil Awards. Claes Kasper Bang is a Danish actor and musician. He is best known for playing the leading role of Christian in Ruben Östlund's 2017 film The Square, which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, and for the role of Fjölnir in Robert Eggers's 2022 film The Northman. In 2019, he played the role of Sasha Mann for the final season of The Affair, and he rose to further international recognition by starring as Count Dracula in the BBC/Netflix series Dracula (2020). For his role in The Square, he became the first Dane to win the European Film Award for Best Actor. Bang has also developed a music career under the moniker of This Is Not America.

Christina Rosendahl is a Danish film director. A nominee for several Robert Awards, she is known for her work on the films Supervoksen (2007), The Idealist (2015), and The Good Traitor (2020).

Empire is a 2023 absurdist period drama film directed by Frederikke Aspöck from a screenplay by Anna Neye. It stars Neye and Sara Fanta Traore.

The Great Silence is a 2022 drama film directed by Katrine Brocks in her feature directorial debut from a screenplay she wrote with Marianne Lentz. It stars Kristine Kujath Thorp.
