Archbishop Kavukatt Jubilee Memorial School or AKJM Public School was founded by the Society of Jesus in Kanjirappally, Kerala, Kottayam District, India. [1] It provides elementary through higher secondary education and is not government aided. [2] It follows the principles of Jesuit pedagogy. [3]
AKJM was established by the Society of Jesus in 1961 in St. Dominic’s Parish, Kanjirapally. It has English as the medium of instruction and was named after Mar Matthew Kavukatt, Archbishop of Changanacherry in his sacerdotal jubilee year. [4] It moved to its present site in 1963, serving primarily Catholic boys. A decade later a boarding house was opened. primarily for boys from the Kuttanad and High Range areas.
In 1995, with the increased population around the school, the boarding house was closed and AKJM Junior HIgh was opened. In 2002 higher secondary was added for biology and science with maths. Also in 2002 the school began admitting girls. [5] It has an active alumni association. [6]

Joseph Edamaram, S.J., the first Provincial of the Jesuits in the independent Kerala province, helped found Loyola School and the adjacent Loyola College of Social Sciences in Trivandrum. In June 1961, Loyola School was established at Palayam, with Fr. K.V. John S.J. as the first Principal and 36 students on the rolls. In 1962, the school was temporarily shifted to a campus in Monvila, followed by the establishment of a boarding house. Fr. P.C. Anthony, S.J. followed Fr. K.V. He was elected as the State General Secretary of Kerala Students Congress, the students wing of Kerala Congress while doing his Law Degree at Government Law College, Ernakulam. He also served as the PTA president of St Antony's Public school from its inception till his demise. Kallampally was also a member of Center for Human Resourced Development of State of Kerala and Kerala State Pollution Control Board. He was also a lead campaign manager for the Kerala Congress for various Lok Sabha elections. Kallampally holds the record of the second youngest MLA in the history of Kerala Legislative Assembly having elected to the Assembly at the age of 26.
