The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia, or known as ASEAN NCAP, is an automobile safety rating program jointly established by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and Global New Car Assessment Program (Global NCAP) upon a collaborative MoU signed by both parties during the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) Foundation Annual General Assembly in New Delhi, India on 7 December 2011. In January 2013, ASEAN NCAP has published the program's first phase results involving seven popular models in the ASEAN region’s market. At this stage, two separate assessments conducted in the rating scheme which are the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) by star-rating and Child Occupant Protection (COP) by percentage-based rating.

Due to the high number of deaths on motorcycles in the region, ASEAN NCAP began prioritizing biker safety from 2017. [5]
Since March 2020, it is mandatory to show a safety label with all display vehicles for sale in Malaysia. The printed information must show the ASEAN NCAP safety rating. Other NCAP safety ratings may also be shown in addition to the ASEAN NCAP safety rating. If the ASEAN NCAP rating has not yet been determined then other NCAP safety ratings may be used but only with approval from ASEAN NCAP – who will verify that the other NCAP rating is appropriate for this model. It was originally started by the Transport Research Laboratory for the UK Department for Transport but later backed by several European governments, as well as by the European Union (EU). Their slogan is "For Safer Cars".
The Proton Saga is a series of subcompact cars and currently city cars produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton. However, the third generation Myvi was entirely designed and made in Malaysia, thus not being based on the third generation Boon. The Myvi was the best-selling car in Malaysia for nine consecutive years, between 2006 and 2014, and again between the years 2018 and 2022. The Myvi has been Malaysia's best-selling car for 14 years since its first full year of sales in 2006. As of 2023, the Myvi reached 1.4 million units sold since the launch of its first generation in 2005.
The Kia Picanto is a city car that has been produced by the South Korean car manufacturer, Kia, since 2003. Other names of the car include Kia Morning in South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Chile, Kia EuroStar in Taiwan, Kia New Morning in Vietnam and the Naza Suria or Naza Picanto in Malaysia. The Picanto is primarily manufactured at the Donghee joint-venture plant in Seosan, South Korea, though some countries locally assemble complete knock-down versions of the car.

The Latin New Car Assessment Programme is an automobile safety assessment programme for Latin America and the Caribbean. Founded in 2010, it offers independent information to consumers about the safety levels of new cars in the market. Latin NCAP tests are based in international renowned methodologies, with vehicles awarded a safety rating between 0 and 5 stars, indicating the protection the cars offer to adult and child occupants. The programme started as a joint initiative and in 2014 it was established as an association under a legal entity framework.
The Proton Prevé is a four-door compact saloon developed by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton. It was launched on 16 April 2012 and is based on Proton's next-generation P2 platform. The Prevé is the saloon complement to its sister car, the Proton Suprima S hatchback, and is also the successor of Proton Inspira.

The Bharat New Car Assessment Program, also known as the Bharat NCAP, is the official New Car Assessment Program for India. Cars sold in the country will be assigned by star ratings based on their safety performance. It was implemented in phases, according to the plans drawn up by the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project. It is the 10th NCAP in the world and was set up by the government of India.
The Perodua Axia is a city car produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Perodua. It was launched on 15 September 2014 as the successor to the Viva. The car takes over the title of being the most affordable car in Malaysia from the Viva, and the best-selling car in Malaysia for three consecutive years, between 2015 until 2017. The Axia is the first model to debut from Perodua's all-new second factory in Rawang, Selangor. As of mid-2023, the Axia reached 600,000 units sold since the launch of its first generation in 2014.
The Proton Iriz is a supermini (B-segment) produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Proton since 2014. It was unveiled on 25 September 2014 at Proton City by Malaysia’s fourth and seventh prime minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. The Iriz platform is also used by its sedan equivalent, the Persona (BH) which was introduced in 2016.

GlobalNew Car Assessment Programme is a project of the Towards Zero Foundation, a UK-registered charity. The programme serves as an umbrella organisation encouraging co-operation between the various New Car Assessment Programmes around the world, and supports campaigns to inform consumers about the safety of vehicles in markets that are weakly regulated or do not yet have their own consumer safety programmes.
The Proton S70 is a C-segment compact sedan produced by Malaysia's automotive company Proton in collaboration with Geely Auto. The vehicle was previewed on 20 November 2023, as it is marked the first sedan car produced by Proton following the 49.9% share acquisition by Geely in 2017. The S70 is marked as successor to the Proton Prevé.
