The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia, or known as ASEAN NCAP, is an automobile safety rating program jointly established by the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) and Global New Car Assessment Program (Global NCAP) upon a collaborative MoU signed by both parties during the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) Foundation Annual General Assembly in New Delhi, India on 7 December 2011. In January 2013, ASEAN NCAP has published the program's first phase results involving seven popular models in the ASEAN region’s market. At this stage, two separate assessments conducted in the rating scheme which are the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) by star-rating and Child Occupant Protection (COP) by percentage-based rating.

Due to the high number of deaths on motorcycles in the region, ASEAN NCAP began prioritizing biker safety from 2017. [5]

Malaysia

Since March 2020, it is mandatory to show a safety label with all display vehicles for sale in Malaysia. The printed information must show the ASEAN NCAP safety rating. Other NCAP safety ratings may also be shown in addition to the ASEAN NCAP safety rating. If the ASEAN NCAP rating has not yet been determined then other NCAP safety ratings may be used but only with approval from ASEAN NCAP – who will verify that the other NCAP rating is appropriate for this model. ANCAP specialises in the crash testing of automobiles sold in Australia and the publishing of these results for the benefit of consumers. ANCAP provides consumers with transparent advice and information on the level of occupant and pedestrian protection provided by different vehicle models in the most common types of crashes, as well as their ability—through technology—to avoid a crash.

An automobile safety rating is a grade given by a testing organisation to a motor vehicle indicating the safety of occupants in the event of a motor vehicle crash, like with the New Car Assessment Program.

The Latin New Car Assessment Programme is an automobile safety assessment programme for Latin America and the Caribbean. Founded in 2010, it offers independent information to consumers about the safety levels of new cars in the market. Latin NCAP tests are based in international renowned methodologies, with vehicles awarded a safety rating between 0 and 5 stars, indicating the protection the cars offer to adult and child occupants. The programme started as a joint initiative and in 2014 it was established as an association under a legal entity framework.

Cars sold in the country will be assigned by star ratings based on their safety performance. It will be implemented in phases, according to the plans being drawn up by the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project. It is the 10th NCAP in the world and is being set up by the government of India.

The Perodua Axia is a city car produced by Malaysian automobile manufacturer Perodua. It was launched on 15 September 2014 as the successor to the Viva. The C-NCAP is a Chinese car safety assessment program. It is primarily modeled after safety standards established by Euro NCAP and is run by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Proton RESS</span>

Reinforced Safety Structure (RESS) is the brand name of an automotive safety body construction system by the Malaysian carmaker, Proton. Debuted in 2012 via the Proton Preve, the RESS body structure is also currently being applied to the 2013 Proton Suprima S, the 2014 Proton Iriz and the 2016 Proton Persona. The RESS was developed by Proton in order to meet the tougher global crash safety regulations through the application of heat treatment and Hot Press Forming (HPF) technology.

ARCAP is an automobile safety assessment program founded by the Russian car magazine Autoreview. It was Russia's first independent rating for the passive safety of a car, presenting itself as the local edition of the Euro NCAP program. It also provides exclusive test results on some models not marketed in Europe or North America, such as AvtoVAZ vehicles.

The GlobalNew Car Assessment Programme is a project of the Towards Zero Foundation, a UK-registered charity. The programme aims to promote the sale of safer cars in developing markets by empowering consumers with objective information about the safety of vehicles. Global NCAP supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the target to halve road deaths and injuries by 2030, and the full implementation of the Global Plan for the UN's Decade of Action for Road Safety especially the recommended activities for vehicles.
