Association Sportive de Saint-Étienne Loire (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃t‿etjɛnlwaʁ] ), commonly known as ASSE (French pronunciation: [a.ɛs.ɛs.ø] ) or simply Saint-Étienne, is a professional football club based in Saint-Étienne in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The club is the women's side of the French football club of the same name, and was founded in 1977 under the name Racing Club de Saint-Étienne. The current name was adopted following the 2008–09 season as the club RC Saint-Étienne merged with their men's side. [1]

Saint-Étienne plays its home matches at the Stade Salif-Keita in Saint-Étienne which has a capacity of 1,000 spectators. They are coached by Laurent Mortel.

It is also used for rugby union, and was a venue at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. It is nicknamed "le Chaudron", or "l'enfer vert", an allusion to the colours worn by the local football team, AS Saint-Étienne, given during the team's heyday when it drew particularly large crowds. More recently, its current capacity was 35,616 before the current renovations, which began in 2011, and temporarily reduced this figure to 26,747. Since the renovations finished, the stadium holds 42,000 seated spectators.

The 2010–11 season was French football club Paris Saint-Germain's 12th season in Division 1 Féminine and their 10th consecutive season in the top division of French football. The Paris Saint-Germain Academy is the youth system of both Paris Saint-Germain's men's and women's teams. Managed by the Association Paris Saint-Germain, the academy was officially established in 1975, but has been developing young talents since the club's foundation in 1970. The academy now has centres in several countries around the world. Likewise, PSG began developing youth players for the women's section in 2012, with the academy officially opening in 2023. Campus PSG in Poissy is currently the training facility and home ground of both sections.

The 2011–12 Division 1 Féminine season was the 38th since its establishment. Lyon are the defending champions. The league schedule was announced on 31 March 2011 and the fixtures were determined on 10 June. The season began on 3 September 2011 and ended on 2 June 2012. The winter break was in effect from 11 December 2011 to 7 January 2012.
