Abdullah Mazari (born 1 January 1987), [1] [2] commonly referred to as Abdullah, is an Afghan cricket player. A left-handed batsman and left-arm orthodox spin bowler, [3] he has played for the Afghanistan national cricket team since 2001 [4] and also for Peshawar, Peshawar Panthers and Afghan Cheetahs. [3]

In August 2021, he accompanied Taliban fighters who visited the headquarters of the Afghanistan Cricket Board. [5] [6]

Biography

Born in Mazar-i-Sharif in 1987 [1] Abdullah first played for Afghanistan in October 2001 in a Grade II Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match against Nowshera. He played three times for them two years later, but it would be a number of years before he returned to the national side, though he did play for Nowshera in the lower tiers of Pakistani domestic cricket a number of times, including one match against Afghanistan in 2007. [4]

He made his first-class debut, in Pakistan, for Peshawar against Sialkot in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in February 2009, also playing against Faisalabad the following week. He returned to play for Afghanistan the following year, playing in an Intercontinental Cup match against Scotland in Ayr. [7] He made his ODI debut in October 2010, playing twice against Kenya. [8] He then played in the final of the 2009–10 Intercontinental Cup in Dubai against Scotland [7] which Afghanistan won by 7 wickets. [9]

In 2011, he played four List A matches for Peshawar Panthers [10] and a Twenty20 match for the Afghan Cheetahs. [11]

In July 2018, Abdullah was the leading wicket-taker for Kabul Region in the 2018 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament, with seven dismissals in four matches. [12]

Zahir Khan is an Afghan cricketer. He made his Test match debut for Afghanistan in September 2019. He made his first-class debut for Afghanistan against Papua New Guinea in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup on 21 November 2015. He represented Afghanistan in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Ihsanullah Khan Mangal is an Afghan cricketer who plays as a right-handed opening batsman. He made his first-class debut for Afghanistan against the Netherlands in the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup on 29 July 2016. Prior to his first-class debut, he captained the Afghanistan U-19 team in the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He made his Test cricket debut in March 2019. Ihsanullah is the younger brother of former Afghanistan captain Nawroz Mangal.

Hazratullah Zazai is an Afghan cricketer. He made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in December 2016. In February 2019, he scored an unbeaten 162 runs off 62 balls against Ireland, which is the highest individual score by an Afghan batsman in a Twenty20 International.

Nijat Masood is an Afghan cricketer, who mainly plays as a right-arm medium bowler. He made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in June 2022.

Munir Ahmad Kakar is an Afghan cricketer. He made his international debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in March 2021.
