Abhimanyu Acharya (born 24 September 1994) is an Indian short story writer and playwright from Gujarat, India. He received the 2020 Yuva Puraskar for his short story collection Padchhayao Vacche ("Between the Shadows").
Abhimanyu Acharya was born on 24 September 1994 in Surendranagar, Gujarat, India. In 2010, he moved to Ahmedabad where he completed his schooling from St. Xavier's High School, and graduated from St. Xavier's College. [1] At present, he is pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Western Ontario, Canada in Comparative literature. [2] [3]
Acharya's first short story was published in the Gujarati magazine Navneet Samarpan in 2009. His short story collection, Padchhayao Vacche ("Between the Shadows"), was published by Rangdwar Publication in 2018. [4] His stories deal with themes of love and sexuality, and often combines traditional storytelling with formal experimentation and lyricism. [5] [6] In 2022, his short story "Chunni" appeared in The Greatest Gujarati Stories Ever Told, edited by Rita Kothari. [7] [3]
His play Roundabout was staged in Gujarat and Karnataka. He directed Madhu Rye's Tell Me The Name Of A Flower in 2018. [2]
Acharya received the 2020 Yuva Puraskar for his short story collection Padchhayao Vacche [8] for which, he also received Gujarat Sahitya Akademi's Best Book Prize (2020). [9] He received the Sanhita Manch playwriting award for his Hindi play Bhes. He was twice longlisted for TOTO Funds the Arts Award for his English writing. [3]
Rajendra Keshavlal Shah was a lyrical poet who wrote in Gujarati. Born in Kapadvanj, he authored more than 20 collections of poems and songs, mainly on the themes of the beauty of nature, and about the everyday lives of indigenous peoples and fisherfolk communities. In his poems using Sanskrit metrics, he was influenced by Rabindranath Tagore. He is considered one of the giants of post Gandhi-era in Gujarati literature.
Kumarpal Balabhai Desai is an author, critic, editor, journalist, columnist and translator from Gujarat, India. He studied and later taught at the Gujarat University. He is associated with several social and Gujarati literary organisations such as Gujarati Sahitya Parishad. His collection of known writings include Pagla Talaavma (2003), Pagarav Talaavma (2012), Tu Kahu Ke Tame (2012), Pityo Ashko (2012), Shabdoday (2012), and Ghazalistan (2012), which is a translation of Urdu ghazals written by Indian and Pakistani poets. He is also a recipient of the Yuva Gaurav Award (2012) from the Gujarat Sahitya Akademi, and the Dasi Jivan Award (2013–14) from the Government of Gujarat. He has appeared in several TV and radio programs on All India Radio and Doordarshan.
Dalkhithi Saav Chhutan is a collection of committed poetry in Gujarati written by Ashok Chavda 'Bedil'. The book won the Yuva Puraskar (2013) instituted by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi. The book consists of deep and intense emotions of the poet expressed in different forms of poetry such as ghazal, Geet, and free verse. The poems in this book deal with social issues in India, such as castism and untouchability.
Ankit Trivedi is a Gujarati language poet, writer, columnist, and emcee from Gujarat, India. His significant works include Gazal Purvak and Geet Purvak. The Indian National Theater in Mumbai awarded him the 2008 Shayda Award for his contribution to Gujarati ghazal. He has received the Takhtasinh Parmar Prize, Yuva Gaurav Puraskar, and the Yuva Puraskar. In 2019, he was awarded a D.Lit. by Gujarat University.

Chandrakant Sheth is a Gujarati poet, essayist, critic, translator and compiler from Gujarat, India. His pen names include Aryaputra, Nand Samavedi, Balchadra and Daksh Prajapati. He won the Sahitya Akademi Award for Gujarati in 1986 for his book Dhoolmani Paglio.
Joseph Ignas Macwan was a Gujarati language novelist, short story writer and essayist from India. He received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1989 for his novel Angaliyat (1986). He was also a recipient of the Dhanji Kanji Gandhi Suvarna Chandrak (1990). His significant works include: Vyathana Vitak, Angaliyat and Mari Paranetar (1988). He died on 28 March 2010, in Nadiad following kidney failure.

His significant works include Jueeni Sugandha, Shri Purant Janse and Avagat. Gujarat Sahitya Akademi awarded him three times for his poems, short stories and criticism. His book Jueeni Sugandh was translated by Navneet Thakkar in Hindi as Juhi Ki Mahak (2007). He also served in the editorial team of Shabdasrishti, a monthly magazine published by Gujarat Sahitya Akademi.
