Adam Rutter (born 24 December 1986 in Sydney, Australia) is an Australian racewalker. [1] He competed in the 50 km walk at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 20 km walk at the 2012 Summer Olympics but did not finish either race. [2] [3]
He achieved the 2008 Olympic qualifying standard by splitting 3:52:49 in the 50 km walk at age 20, making him the youngest Australian man to qualify. [4] "At the Olympics I was sick, so I didn't have the best prep", he said of his 2008 Olympic performance. [5]
Rutter qualified for the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, where he competed in the 20 km walk. After 10 km, Rutter passed Eric Tysse to take the lead, walking negative splits ahead of Valery Borchin and Hao Wang. [6] Rutter was described as "unheralded" and few predicted that he would be in the lead more than half-way through the race. "It's hard to put in words, it's what you sort of dream of", Rutter said. [7] However, he was one of two athletes to have been disqualified based on his walking form. Rutter accepted but did not agree with the disqualification. [5]
Rutter competed at the 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014 IAAF World Race Walking Cup, with a best finish of 9th at the 2004 edition. [8]
Rutter competed for the Sydney Pacific Athletics Club and set the under-14 1500 m walk record at age 12. [9] He studied history and trained with Chris Erickson. [10] [7]

Takumi Saito is a Japanese former racewalker. He placed 25th at the 20 km walk at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and 5th at the 2013 World Championships.
Yusuke Suzuki is a Japanese racewalker. He has represented Japan in the 20 km event twice at the World Championships in Athletics and competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He is the pending world record holder for the 20 km walk with a time of 1:16:36 hours at an event in his home town of Nomi in 2015.
Georgiy Nikolayevich Sheiko is a Kazakhstani racewalker. He competed in the 20 km walk at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he placed 35th.
Álvaro Rafael Martín Uriol is a Spanish racewalker. He competed in the 20 km walk at the 2012 Summer Olympics but did not finish the race. At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, he won a winning a gold and bronze medal in the mixed marathon walk relay and 20 km walk.
Mária Katerinka Czaková is a Slovak race walker. She competed in the 20 km kilometres event at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics. She also represented Slovakia at four World Championships. He competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he was the bronze medallist. Bird-Smith represented Australia at the World Championships in Athletics three times, and has appeared four times at the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships/Cup.
Federico Tontodonati is a male Italian racewalker who won six international medals at senior level at the race walk competitions. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in 20 km walk.
Teodorico Caporaso is a male Italian racewalker who won four international medals at senior level at the race walk competitions. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in 50 km walk.
Rhydian Cowley is an Australian race walker born in Glen Waverley, Victoria who specialises in the 50 kilometres race walk and 20 kilometres race walk. Cowley competed in the 2013 World Championships in Moscow and the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. For both of his major championship competitions, Cowley qualified in the 20 kilometres race walk. He has also competed at a Summer Universiade, five World Race Walking Cups, and a World Junior Championships. In 2021, he competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where he finished in 8th in the men's 50 kilometres walk with a new personal best time of 3:52.01 just 113 seconds behind the eventual winner Dawid Tomala of Poland.
Manuel Esteban Soto Ruiz is a Colombian male racewalking athlete who competes in the 20 kilometres race walk. He represented his country at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2012 IAAF World Race Walking Cup.
