Professor Adelardus Lubango Kilangi was the 9th Attorney General of Tanzania.
Professor Kilangi was born April 6 1969. [1] Prof. Kilangi was a member of the African Union Commission on International Law. He also served as the president of the commission from 2012 to 2014. [2] Prior to the appointment he was also a director at St. Augustine University of Tanzania and served at various capacities at the university. In 2013 Prof. Kilangi released research work,“The Principle of Permanent Sovereignty over Natural Resources:Its Application in Regulating the Mineral Sector in Tanzania.” [3] [4]
Professor Kilangi succeeded George Masaju [5] and preceded Eliezer Feleshi. Prof. Kilangi was sworn in by President John Pombe Magufuli on Monday November 9,2020 at State House in Dodoma [6]
In December 2021,Kilangi was appointed as the Tanzanian ambassador to Brazil. [7] [8]
The politics of Tanzania takes place in a framework of a unitary presidential democratic republic,whereby the President of Tanzania is both head of state and head of government,and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. The party system is dominated by the Chama Cha Mapinduzi. The Judiciary is independent of the executive and the legislature.
Tanzania's first president,Julius Nyerere also was one of the founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement,and,during the Cold War era,Tanzania played an important role in regional and international organisations,such as the Non-Aligned Movement,the front-line states,the G-77,and the Organisation of African Unity (OAU). One of Africa's best-known elder statesmen,Nyerere was personally active in many of these organisations,and served chairman of the OAU (1984–85) and chairman of six front-line states concerned with eliminating apartheid in Southern Africa. Nyerere was also involved with peace negotiations in Burundi until his death. Nyerere's death,on 14 October 1999,is still commemorated annually.

Samia Suluhu Hassan is a Tanzanian politician who has been serving as president of Tanzania since 19 March 2021. She is the first woman to serve in the position. She previously served as vice-president of Tanzania from 2015 to 2021,from which she ascended to the presidency following the death of her predecessor,John Magufuli.

George Mcheche Masaju was the Attorney General of Tanzania until February 1,2018. He was appointed by President Jakaya Kikwete on 3 January 2015 and he continued to be the Attorney General in Magufuli's cabinet.
