George Mcheche Masaju was the Attorney General of Tanzania until February 1, 2018. He was appointed by President Jakaya Kikwete on 3 January 2015 and he continued to be the Attorney General in Magufuli's cabinet. [1] [2]

The Attorney General of Tanzania is the legal adviser to the Government of Tanzania and serves concurrently as an ex officio member of the Cabinet and Parliament.

Jakaya Kikwete Tanzanian politician and president

Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete is a Tanzanian politician who was the fourth president of Tanzania, in office from 2005 to 2015. Prior to his election as president, he was the Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1995 to 2005 under his predecessor, Benjamin Mkapa. He has also served as the chairperson of the African Union in 2008–2009 and the chairman of the Southern African Development Community Troika on Peace, Defence and Security in 2012–2013.

Magufuli cabinet

The Magufuli Cabinet was formed by President of Tanzania John Magufuli after taking the oath of office on 5 November 2015. Magufuli won the 2015 general election with 58% of the vote in a tightly contested race against ex-CCM Chadema rival Edward Lowassa. After being sworn in on 5 November 2015, Magufuli announced his cabinet almost a month later, on 10 December 2015. He reduced the cabinet to 19 ministers from 30 in the previous cabinet.

Before joining the Attorney General's Chambers in 2009 as Deputy AG, he served as a legal adviser to the President. [3]

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania is the head of state and head of government of Tanzania. The president leads the executive branch of the Government of Tanzania and is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Masaju also serves as the Board Chairman of the Law School of Tanzania. [4]

He was sworn in as Attorney General on 5 January 2015 at the State House and reappointed to that position on 5 November 2015.

The White House, also known in English as the State House, is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The current building, then called Government House, was constructed under the first British Governor of Tanganyika Horace Byatt in 1922 to the designs of architect John Sinclair. It is built on the remains of the original building constructed by the German administrators of German East Africa that had been damaged by the Royal Navy in December 1914. The south wing was added in 1956 to honour the visit of Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon and retains the name The Princess Margaret Wing to this day. The building was renamed State House on independence.
