Adhiyar (English: The Darkness) (Bengali : আধিয়ার) is a 2003 Bangladeshi film starring Raisul Islam Asad, Champa and Pijush Banerjee in lead roles. Selim Al Din bagged National Film Awards for Best Story.
Humayun Ahmed was a Bangladeshi novelist, dramatist, screenwriter, filmmaker, songwriter, scholar, and professor. His breakthrough was his debut novel Nondito Noroke published in 1972. He wrote over 200 fiction and non-fiction books, many of which were bestsellers in Bangladesh. His books were the top sellers at the Ekushey Book Fair during the 1990s and 2000s. He won the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1981 and the Ekushey Padak in 1994 for his contribution to Bengali literature.
Humayun Kamrul Islam was a Bangladeshi actor and drama organiser. He worked in television dramas, movies and theatre plays. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his lead role in the film Matritto (2004). He was awarded Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2018 by the Government of Bangladesh.
Selim Al Deen was a Bangladeshi playwright and theatre artist. He was the founder chairperson of the Department of Drama and Dramatics at Jahangirnagar University. He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1984 and Ekushey Padak in 2007 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to theatre.
Monpura, is a 2009 Bangladeshi Bengali film, directed by Giasuddin Selim. The film was remade into Indian Bengali in 2010 as Achin Pakhi, which was directed by Anjan Das. Monpura is a romantic tragedy film set in rural Bangladesh. As Selim's large-screen debut, and contemporary-folk soundtrack released ahead of screening which were an instant hit, it received a huge media hype even before its release. Giasuddin Selim is a Bangladeshi film director and screenwriter. He is best known for directing Monpura (2009) and Swapnajaal (2018). He won Bangladesh National Film Award twice: Best Story for the film Adhiar (2003) in 2003 and Best Screenplay for Monpura in 2008. His recent film, Gunin, received criticism from critics and audiences for poor storyline and weak screenplay.
