The Adiong Memorial State College or (AMSC), formerly known as Adiong Memorial Polytechnic State College, is a public college in the Philippines. It is mandated to provide higher professional, technical and special instructions for special purposes and promote research and extension services and advanced studies in agriculture, forestry, ecology, and other allied courses. [1] Its main campus is located in Ditsaan-Ramain, Lanao del Sur (a suburb of Marawi). [2]
Through the initiatives of the late Governor Mamintal "Mike" M. Adiong Sr. during his time as Representative of Lanao del Sur, through the endorsement of the House of Representatives and the Senate of the Philippines, approved by President Fidel V. Ramos, the Adiong Memorial National High School was converted to Adiong Memorial Polytechnic College through Republic Act No. 7935 on March 1, 1995. [3]
On June 10, 1998, Republic Act No. 8651 was signed into law by President Fidel V. Ramos, converting Adiong Memorial Polytechnic College into a State College, thus renamed as Adiong Memorial Polytechnic State College. [3]
On July 26, 2022, through the initiatives of Hon. Ansaruddin "Hooky" Alonto Adiong, the Representative from the First District of Lanao del Sur, the Adiong Memorial Polytechnic State College was renamed into Adiong Memorial State College by virtue of Republic Act No. 11756, signed into law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and with the support of Hon. Mamintal "Bombit" Alonto Adiong, Jr., Governor of the Province of Lanao del Sur. [3]

Lanao del Sur, officially the Province of Lanao del Sur, is a province in the Philippines located in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The Maranao people, also spelled Meranao, Maranaw, and Mëranaw, is a predominantly Muslim Filipino ethnic group native to the region around Lanao Lake in the island of Mindanao. They are known for their artwork, weaving, wood, plastic and metal crafts and epic literature, the Darangen. They are ethnically and culturally closely related to the Iranun, and Maguindanaon, all three groups being denoted as speaking Danao languages and giving name to the island of Mindanao. They are grouped with other Moro people due to their shared religion.

The Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao (JMM) is one of the oldest and biggest Madaris in the Philippines. It was established with the financial backing from the Agama Islam Society in 1956 by the late Sheikh Ahmad Bashir, his devoted companions from the Ulama (Ustad) and Traditional (Cali) Group. Its English Department was founded in 1987 through Board Resolution No. 1-87, series of 1987 and sought the government recognition in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (MECS) Order No. 24, series of 1985, also known as “Guidelines and Standards for the Recognition and Operation of Madaris.” In the same year, Ma’had Mindanao Al-Arabie Al-Islamia was changed and adopted its present name.
Datu Mamintal "Bombit" Alonto Adiong Jr. is a Filipino politician who currently serve as the governor of the province of Lanao del Sur from 2007 to 2016, and from 2019 up to present.
Ansaruddin Abdul Malik Alonto Adiong is a Filipino politician serving as mayor of Ditsaan-Ramain, Lanao del Sur since 2022. Previously, he was the representative of Lanao del Sur's 1st district (2013–2022). He was elected vice governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) in 2005. After Governor Zaldy Ampatuan's removal from office in 2009, Adiong became the acting governor until 2011.
Mamintal M. Adiong Sr. was a long-time Filipino politician, served as representative of Lanao del Sur to the Philippine Congress (1992–2001) and as provincial governor from 2001 until his death from cardiac arrest in 2004. He was largely credited for the landslide victory of President Gloria Arroyo and her slate in the 2004 elections.
Local elections were held in the province of Lanao del Sur on May 9, 2016, as part of the 2016 general election. Voters will select candidates for all local positions: a town mayor, vice mayor and town councilors, as well as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the vice-governor, governor and representatives for the two districts of Lanao del Sur.
Election will be held in Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao for seats in the House of Representatives of the Philippines on May 9, 2016.
The 1976 Tripoli Agreement was signed on December 23, 1976 in Tripoli, Libya by Carmelo Z. Barbero, representing the Government of the Philippines and Nur Misuari of the Moro National Liberation Front. The agreement defined autonomous administrative divisions for Muslims in the southern Philippines, the establishment of an autonomous government, judicial system for Sharia law and special security forces, and the observance of a ceasefire. The autonomous region was to have its own economic system, including an Islamic bank.
Benasing Onayan Macarambon Jr. is a Filipino politician who served as representative of the Second District of Lanao del Sur, Philippines (1998–2007). In 2018, he was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte a Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority board member and director until September 22, 2022.
Basher Dimalaang Manalao or known to be Mostaqbal, a Maranao people, Islamic preacher and was elected vice-governor then succeeded by law the governor of Lanao del Sur in the Philippines following the death of former governor Mamintal Adiong Sr. in 2004. He took his Islamic degree at King Saud University.
Ahmad Domocao "Domie" Alangadi Alonto was a Muslim-Filipino lawyer, educator, author, traditional leader, and Islamic figure from Lanao del Sur.
Lanao del Sur's 1st congressional district is a congressional district in the province of Lanao del Sur that has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 1987. It covers the eastern interior municipalities bordering the provinces of Bukidnon and Cotabato as well as those along the northern shores of Lake Lanao including its capital city, Marawi. The district is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Ziaur-Rahman A. Adiong of Lakas-CMD.
