Adrian Ropotan (born 8 May 1986) is a Romanian former footballer who played as a midfielder. [1]
Adrian Ropotan was born in Galați on 8 May 1986, playing his first Divizia A match for Dinamo București on 18 March 2006 in a 2–0 victory against Pandurii Târgu Jiu. [2] In the following season, he played 21 league games under coach Mircea Rednic, helping Dinamo win the 2006–07 Liga I title, also appearing in 8 matches in the UEFA Cup as the team reached the sixteenths-finals where they were eliminated with 3–1 on aggregate by Benfica. [2] [3] [4] [5] In the following season The Red Dogs had the objective of reaching the Champions League group stage, Ropotan playing in both legs of the third qualifying round against Lazio Roma, which however was lost with 4–2 on aggregate. [2] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] He was transferred to Dynamo Moscow for 3 million € on 13 February 2009. [11] [12] In 2011 he was loaned by Dynamo Moscow to Tom Tomsk where he played alongside fellow Romanian Ovidiu Dănănae. [13] After the loan ended, Ropotan returned to Dynamo Moscow where he worked with Romanian coach Dan Petrescu. [14] After his contract with Dynamo Moscow expired, he signed for Volga as a free agent where he was teammate with compatriot Mihăiță Pleșan. [15] [16] On 22 June 2014 Ropotan signed a one-year contract with Gabala, being brought there alongside Andrei Cristea by coach Dorinel Munteanu. [17] [18] In the 2015–16 season, Ropotan returned to Romania, playing in the first part of the season for Petrolul Ploiești and in the second for Pandurii Târgu Jiu. [2] [19] He went to play in the United Arab Emirates for Hatta Club together with former Pandurii teammate Mihai Răduț. [20] Ropotan ended his career after playing in the 2018–19 Liga I season for Concordia Chiajna, being brought there by coach Dorinel Munteanu. [2] [21]
Adrian Ropotan played 7 games for Romania, making his debut on 19 November 2008, when coach Victor Pițurcă sent him on the field in order to replace Costin Lazăr at halftime in a friendly which ended with a 2–1 victory against Georgia. [22] [23] He appeared in two games at the Euro 2012 qualifiers, a 2–1 away loss against Bosnia and Herzegovina and a 3–1 home victory against Luxembourg. [22] [24] [25] His last appearance for the national team was on 25 May 2016 in a friendly against DR Congo which ended 1–1. [22] [26]

The 2007–08 season was FC Dinamo București's 59th season in Liga I. The season found the Dinamo fans hoping for another title in Romania and a qualification in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
The 2006-07 season was FC Dinamo București's 58th season in Liga I. Dinamo qualified for the European Spring by beating Beşiktaş and Bayer Leverkusen 2–1 in Bucharest, drawing 1–1 at Club Brugge and losing 3–1 in London to Tottenham Hotspur. In the next round they faced Benfica, but were eliminated after a 0–1 loss at Da Luz and a 1–2 loss at home. Domestically, the team crushed most of its opponents in the first 19 rounds, ending up autumn champions, 13 points ahead of second place. After two spectacular away wins against the rivals, 4–2 with Steaua and 4–1 with Rapid, Dinamo relaxed and let some points slip in other matches. Nevertheless, they secured their 18th title with four rounds to spare.
The 2005-06 season was FC Dinamo București's 57th season in Liga I. The season started well, with the highlight in recent times for the club. In UEFA Cup, Dinamo thrashed Premier League team Everton 5–1. Dinamo went on to win the tie 5–2. The crisis started in the second part of the season. Manager Ioan Andone was fired by the new Executive President of the club Ioan Becali. Esteban Vigo was brought in, but because of the scandals inside the club Ioan Becali was kicked out and Vigo left the club as well. Dinamo counted on Ion Marin for the first games of the spring that started with a 3–0 loss to Oţelul Galaţi. Florin Marin came and was kept manager for the rest of the season before Mircea Rednic took the job. Dinamo finished the season with a 0–0 draw against Poli Timișoara and finished 3rd to earn a very important UEFA Cup spot at the end of a horrible season.
The 2012–13 season was FC Dinamo București's 64th consecutive season in Liga I. In this season, Dinamo played in Liga I, Cupa României and UEFA Europa League. The European place was earned after Dinamo won the Romanian Cup in the season before. Dinamo kept Dario Bonetti as head coach, and won the first trophy of the season, Romanian Supercup, with a win against champions CFR Cluj. But after that the good results failed to appear. Dinamo was eliminated from Europa League, and after 15 rounds, when the team laid on the seventh spot of the standings, Dario Bonetti was sacked and Dorinel Munteanu was brought to replace him. In the Romanian Cup, Dinamo was eliminated by CFR Cluj, after extra-time. At the end of 2012, Munteanu resigned citing his desire to coach abroad. His place was taken by Cornel Ţălnar. Under his spell, Dinamo started well the second half of the season and entered the fight for a European place. But after a round of poor results, Dinamo missed a place for a European competition for the first time since 1998.
