Aeolian is the second studio album by German post-metal band The Ocean. It was released on 7 March 2006 through Metal Blade Records.

About

Aeolian is the second part of a two-CD project that started with Fluxion . Whereas Fluxion had a focus on atmosphere and orchestral sounds, Aeolian focuses more on the band's hardcore and metal influences. [2] [5] The two albums were originally intended to be released together as a double CD, but this was cancelled due to financial reasons. [1]

An animated music video was created for the song "One with the Ocean". [6]

All tracks are written by Robin Staps. Lyrics to "The City in the Sea" are based on the poem of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe.

Pelagial is the sixth studio album by German post-metal band The Ocean. It is a concept album with the track titles referencing, in descending fashion, the oceanic depth zones. Musically, the concept is explored by sequencing the music such that it is increasingly dark and claustrophobic in emulation of the diminishing light and increasing pressure that comes with oceanic descent. The album was initially conceived as an instrumental release, although vocals were subsequently added; the band has made both versions available.

"Father Figure" is a song by American rock band Army of Anyone. It was their second single off of their album Army of Anyone, and the last single the band would release before going into a hiatus mid-2007. It peaked at number 31 on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart in April 2007.

The first two track titles each reference a period of the Mesozoic era, whereas the remaining six each reference a period of the Cenozoic era.
