Afra (Persian : افرا‎, also Romanized as Afrā)^[1] is a village in Balatajan Rural District, in the Central District of Qaem Shahr County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 591, in 141 families.^[2]

Persian, also known by its endonym Farsi, is one of the Western Iranian languages within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. It is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and some other regions which historically were Persianate societies and considered part of Greater Iran. It is written right to left in the Persian alphabet, a modified variant of the Arabic script.

Balatajan Rural District is a rural district (dehestan) in the Central District of Qaem Shahr County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 31,892, in 8,244 families. The rural district has 50 villages.

The Central District of Qaem Shahr County is a district (bakhsh) in Qaem Shahr County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 275,807, in 74,907 families. The District has two cities: Qaem Shahr & Arateh.
