Agulu is a large town in Anambra State, Nigeria. It is located in Anaocha Local Government Area. Agulu is under the Anambra Central Senatorial District. [2] It is home to the Agulu Lake. [3] Agulu community has prominent men and women in politics, industries, academia and the government. The community also has produced a Governor in Anambra State in the person of Mr Peter Obi. Agulu is also known for the Agulu-Nanka erosion sites. [4] Agulu comprises twenty villages. These are: Nwanchi, Nneohia, Okpu, Ama-Ezike, Odidama, Amorji, Isiamaigbo, Ukunu, Uhueme, Obeagu, Obe, Nkitaku, Okpu-Ifite, Umubialla, Amatutu, Umuowelle, Umunnowu, Ifiteani, Umuifite, and Nneogidi.

Climate

Agulu's wet season is warm, oppressive, and overcast while the dry season is hot, muggy, and partly cloudy. For a period of years, the temperature normally changes from 65 °F to 87 °F. [9]

The Aniomapeople are a predominantly Igboid ethnolingustic group and nationality located in present day Delta State, Nigeria. They encompass and are native to the communities which span across the 9 northeastern Local Government Areas of Delta State. Politically, the Anioma occupy the Delta North Senatorial District where they are the majority group. Today, the senatorial district consists of the Enuani (Oshimili/Aniocha), and Ukwuani/Ndokwa and Ika geographical and linguistic zones of Delta State.

Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba, is a Nigerian politician who served as Senator for the Anambra South Senatorial District of Anambra State from 2011 to 2019. Uba also won the 2007 Anambra State gubernatorial election on the platform of the People's Democratic Party but was declared unduly elected by the Supreme Court of Nigeria a month later. He defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress in February 2017, the leadership crises engulfing the former ruling party PDP may have motivated his decision.

Alphonsus Obi Igbeke was sworn in as Senator for the Anambra North constituency of Anambra State, Nigeria on 25 May 2010 after the election of Joy Emordi of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) had been annulled. He is a member of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).

Joy Emodi was elected Senator for the Anambra North constituency of Anambra State, Nigeria, taking office on 20 February 2005 after the election of Emmanuel Anosike was annulled. She was re-elected in 2007, but her second election was appealed by Alphonsus Obi Igbeke, the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) candidate. After protracted hearings, Igbeke was declared the winner on 25 March 2010.

Nanka, is an Igbo speaking town in Southeastern Nigeria. The town is bordered by Agulu to the north, the town of Nanka is posited to exist alongside Igboukwu.

Anambra Central senatorial district in Anambra State is one of the three Senatorial Districts in the State. It has seven local government areas. They are Awka North, Awka South, Njikoka, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South and Dunukofia. There are 1,556 polling units (Pus) and 109 registration areas (RAs) as of 2019. INEC office in Amawbia, Awka South LGA is the collation centre. This Senatorial District covers the Anambra State Capital, Awka, and its environs. It also has prominent and notable people.

The 2010 Anambra State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on February 6, 2010. The APGA nominee Peter Obi won the election, defeating Chris Ngige of the Action Congress of Nigeria.

The 2011 Nigerian Senate election in Anambra State was held on April 9, 2011, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Anambra State. John Emeka Okey representing Anambra North, and Andy Ubah representing Anambra South both won on the platform of the People's Democratic Party. While Chris Ngige representing Anambra Central won on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria.

The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Anambra State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Anambra State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.

Onitsha Divisional Library, a Nigerian public library under Anambra State Library Board is located in the commercial city of Onitsha in the Onitsha North Local Government Area, Anambra North Senatorial District of Anambra State. It is a public library built to offer literacy and information services to the residents of Onitsha town and its environs. The Onitsha divisional library has a structure that was fully designed as a library unlike some of the public libraries in Anambra State that are housed in halls. It is in charge of Atani community library and reports directly to the Director of the Anambra State Library Board in Awka. The library serves the residents of Onitsha and its environs including children, students, youths, men, and women. It has facilities and information resources that include books, references, audiovisual resources, an e-library section, and an auditorium.
