Aiborlang Khongjee (born 1987) is an Indian former professional footballer who last played as a defender for ATK. He played as a centre back or a right back. He had also represented the India national team on eight occasions.
Aibor, as he is affectionately called, belongs to a small town named Lyngkhat in East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya. Football was his love since school days. He had also played Subroto Cup for his school Raidlaban Higher Secondary School. After his Class X exams, he moved to Shillong to join the Sports Authority of India. He started watching international football, and soon became a fan of John Terry. He has been a fan of Chelsea. Among the Indian defenders, Mahesh Gawli has been his favourite. [1] He left SAI in 2005, and joined the local team Shillong Lajong next year as a stopper back.
In 2007, he was signed by Kolkata club East Bengal from Shillong Lajong. [2] However, an injury-hit season meant that he got very few opportunities in the big club, [1] and subsequently was sent back to his former club. However, Subrata Bhattacharya, the coach of the Red & Gold Brigade used Aiborlang as the side back for the first time. [1]
Having the experience of playing I-League for East Bengal, he was made the captain of the Shillong Lajong for the 2009–10 season, as they prepared for their I-League debut. [3] In the 2009–10 season, he had given the hosts an early lead from the spot kick against Mohun Bagan in the 54th minute, but later strikes from Chidi Edeh and Marcos Pereira meant the hosts lose 1–2. [4]
On 24 March 2013 in the 2012-13 I-League, he scored with a header on the 5th minute against Pailan Arrows, and then assisted Tolgay Özbey on the 19th minute.
In August 2014 Khonjee joined Shillong Lajong for the third time in his career. [5]

Shillong Lajong Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Shillong, Meghalaya. The club is currently competing in the I-League, the second tier of the Indian football league system, following promotion from the 2022–23 I-League 2. Shillong Lajong also takes part in regional competitions.

The 2014–15 I-League was the eighth season of the I-League, the Indian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 2007. The season began on 17 January 2015, after the conclusion of the 2014–15 Federation Cup and finished on 31 May 2015 with a title deciding match between defending champions Bengaluru and Mohun Bagan. The 2016 Indian Federation Cup, also known as 2016 Hero Federation Cup due to sponsorship reasons was the 37th edition of the Federation Cup, the main national football cup competition in India. The tournament was held from 30 April 2016 to 21 May 2016. Top 8 teams from 2015–16 I-League participated in the tournament. Ten Sports Network, the Official Broadcaster of Hero Federation Cup 2016 will telecast only the Semi-finals and the Final match while Knockout stage matches will be streamed live on I-league website.
The 2017 Indian Federation Cup was the 38th and last edition of the Federation Cup, the main domestic football cup competition in India. From next season, a reformed Super Cup will take place. The top eight teams from the 2016–17 I-League season participated in the tournament hosted solely in Cuttack, Odisha. The tournament is set to take place between 7 May to 21 May 2017. Mohun Bagan are the defending champions.
The 2017–18 season is East Bengal FC's 98th season in existence. The club has won the Calcutta Football League this season for the record consecutive 8th time. The Red and Gold Brigade finished 4th in the much-awaited 2017-18 I League campaign, coming ever so close once again. East Bengal reached the final of the inaugural Indian Super Cup being held at Bhubaneshwar but lost to Bengaluru FC by 4–1.
The 2018–19 season is the club's 99th season in existence. East Bengal discontinued its tie-up with their main sponsors "Kingfisher" after 20 long years of partnership. On 5 July 2018, East Bengal announced a partnership with business giants Quess Corp as their main sponsors, leading to the formation of a new entity named "Quess East Bengal FC Pvt. Ltd." (QEBFC).
